The grilled chicken breast with mac & cheese was awesome! So was the beef soup with grilled cheese Yummy food and excellent customer care! Go visit and decide for yourself!

Pancakes are good. Most of the food tastes out of a can and not homemade. The restaurant is dull. A good cleaning and some paint are desperately needed. Better seats too.

We just got in town after traveling for a little over 8 hours. We also have our 3 year old with us. It took forever for the food to come. We asked that the children's food come out first. Server came out and didn't know what went with who. Tried to give me something I didn't order. What I did order was toasted. I didn't want it like that. And they smeared very little chicken salad on it. To top it off. They literally forgot my son's dinner. Chicken nuggets and fries. I'm sorry but I will never eat there again. And yes I tipped horribly. But it was also well earned.

Terrible experience 2 tables occupied when I entered. After me, a table of 5 sat down and ordered. They got their salads and main course before I got anything. Cook came out twice to tell me they were cooking the steak for my salad. When I eventually gave up and left, they told me they couldn't find the "guy supposed to be cooking my steak." I was baffled and left hungry after about an hour. Did I mention there were only a total of 3 other tables with people?

Awesome bartender! Unpretentious place. Great homestyle food. Onion rings & key lime pie-winners! Restaurant in front, bar in back with side entrance. We liked eating in bar area.

On long trip and was looking for a simple restaurant to eat at saw reviews on this restaurant and stopped in and the two reviews were right on. We all had burgers and Mac and cheese and fries and they were great. This place is great for families that are traveling. Prices were very reasonable. The restaurant was very clean and the staff was very helpful.

Had a very tasty home-cooked meal here. Chicken livers, turnip greens, corn pudding, mashed potatoes, butter beans, banana pudding were all great! Nice little cafe in town with nice people. Would def stop here again.

This is my favorite place to eat in Appomattox. Excellent smoked meats, plate lunches like mom used to make, along with home made side dishes and desserts make this my home away from home. Try the Mac and cheese and corn pudding sides and pair them up with some meat loaf or salmon cakes. You can't go wrong at the Rail Yard!
