I hardly ever write reviews, but I felt like there needed to be some fair balance for this accountant because I had a terrible experience. To begin with, he charged me 25% more than he quoted me without any explanation. Second, he didn't complete my taxes in time for the April 15th deadline and never contacted me to tell me he was filing an extension. I contacted him a week or two after the deadline and that's when he told me. We set an appointment for two weeks out to review my "completed" return, but when I showed up for the appointment that day he blamed his staff for putting the appointment on the wrong day, even though he's the one I spoke with directly to set the appointment. He said he had to "print some documents to have it ready for me to review" and asked me to come back a few hours later. Over the next three hours he sent me multiple texts with questions about the return he very obviously had not completed. I pretended like it wasn't obvious he had lied to me because I didn't want to be rude. We ended up owing $4,000 in federal taxes and he told me I had until October to pay it. What he didn't tell me is that we owed a late penalty and we were accruing interest because those aren't deferred. In fact, he suppressed those numbers from the total owed knowing we'd get a bill from the IRS later. If he had completed them on time, we could have paid that amount and avoided the fees. He also said he didn't submit anything electronically, so I had to mail in all of the documentation, which clearly takes longer to process. I had no confidence in his work, considering the circumstances, so I had someone re-do the return. His work turned out to be correct, but his poor customer service, communication and dishonesty earn him a solid 1 star.

Ron Walters has been doing my taxes for 6 years now. He is amazing! He always gets my taxes done in a timely manner and with great results year after year. He takes the time to sit down with me and ask the appropriate questions each year to ensure that I am getting the best return possible. He also makes sure I understand every line item on my return. I send everyone I know to Ron because I know without doubt he will give them the same white glove service that he has given me.
