Small intimate theater. Not a bad seat in the house. Excellent professional productions at bargain prices. Never disappointed.

The theater is cozy and intimate, you are up close to the actors and they always do a great job of entertaining. We most recently attended a pre-screening (not sure the exact term) of God of Carnage, which was very enjoyable. The actors portrayed their parts well and I was definitely drawn into the story. Will come back in the future.

The best little venue to see great pieces of entertainment. Shows are well picked and the seating is intimate and all great - I do not feel there's a bad seat in the house.

Very small theatre - great seats throughout. Less than 5 stars only for the production we saw.

A real Gem. Seriously. If you can appreciate fine acting performances where you can literally see the spittle flying out of the mouth this is your place. Intimate seating brings you as close to the actors as is physically possible in this venue. Fine Arts.

Thie Purple Rose Theatre offers an intimate theater experience, in the round. I have enjoyed every play I have seen there since the mid 90s. I almost always attend the "talk backs" where the audience discusses their experience with the director. These are before the official opening.

I think the Rose may do the most consistently good and interesting theatre in all of Michigan. It's worth a drive to see their productions.

I love going to the Purple Rose. Every seat is so close to the action, the actors are phenominal, and you won't see these plays just anywhere.

Went to see Jeff Daniels: Onstage & Unplugged 2016 for the theatre's benefit and was greatly disappointed. Because I have seen Jeff Daniel's perform before (and he was terrific), I knew what a high standard he sets in his performances. Unfortunately, he had a broken arm and didn't cancel the show. He only played the guitar and sang 1 or 2 songs and the majority of the show was a long explanation (while skillfully done with shots from the movie went on way too long) of his injury. I had come to be entertained with his humorous and entertaining singing and was greatly disappointed.

It's in Chelsea, so a bit of a drive, but it's worth it. We've seen 4 performances there and each one was outstanding. It's a 'one set' theater with a single stage and seating on three sides. Not a bad seat in the house, but seating is limited. Can't say enough good things about the performances. The actors are all great, many with a lot of experience.
Jeff Daniels, the actor, founded the theater, and my hat is off to him for the quality that he's instilled in it. If they sold season tickets, I'd buy them for my wife and me in a heartbeat, unfortunately with limited seating, they don't. Not a problem though as we always get good seats in advance online.
If you love theater, check it out!
