Every corner of Prospect Park is worth exploring, but the part closest to Windsor Terrace includes the peaceful man-made lake. Benches and small wooden gazebos dot the waterfront.

Despite the signage, you can only rent boats at the kiosk near the lake. Beware of heli-parents clogging up the line with silly questions, like "how deep is the lake"? Government ID required to rent.

Waiting in line at the boat rental is the best place to eavesdrop on wet blanket helicopter parents living in fear of how deep the water is. I've never seen a paddle boat capsize.

Two and four seat paddle boats and single and double kayaks for rent near lakeside. Lots of turtles to spot on logs by Duck Island on sunny days.

Go Fish! The tranquil 55-acre lake at Prospect Park’s southern tip is home to the state’s largest concentration of large-mouth bass. Many other fish can be occasionally found as well.
