How has this place been open for so long? Incredibly overpriced, small portions, food is meh at best and bad customer service to boot. Went in there for breakfast with my parents cause I heard it was good. Went up to order and since none of their breakfast food looked particularly good and since me and my parents were going to split everything I decided to order a sandwich. I was told we don't serve lunch on Sundays which I find more than a little ridiculous. I guess my surprise and slight annoyance and disappointment registered on my face because the cashier leaped into a half baked excuse for why they don't have lunch on Sunday. I was hungry and wasn't particularly interested so I cut her off and asked for a milkshake. The cashier then asked "you sire that's what you want? Our breakfast is really good." And began listing items off the menu. I'm sure your breakfast is good but I read the menu and don't need you trying to upsell me I just want you to take my order. Parents got a breakfast bagel sandwich, a Alexander omelet, and a parfait. Total for everything was nearly $60 so I had high hopes for the food. Food comes and was severely let down. Omelette was a weird brownish green color so I don't know what kind of eggs they use and the breakfast bagel sandwich tasted like something I could get for half the price with hash browns at McDonald's. The milkshake was very small and tasted like it was made with a powder mix instead of milk and ice cream which for the price is a little annoying. Everything about this place rubbed me the wrong way and I'm baffled that they have been here for over a decade
This looks like an amazing place to get breakfast. I wish we had not had plans. We got coffee to go. We had a reasonable wait for our coffees. They tasted great!
Excellent cafe very popular for breakfast and lunch on lazy weekends morning. Great location, seating, a very well laid out menu to select from. We ordered chicken salad, wrap and chicken burgers with coffee and milk shake. Portion and quality was top notch. Must visit if you are in Madison.
Eggs Benedict was very delicicious! Very fast and professional service. Everyone is nice here. Very affordable.
I got the salad of the day. Mixed greens, chicken, quinoa, carrots, broccoli, onions, dried cranberries mixed with vinegrette and served with sourdough bread (option of 7 grain bread). Tasty and ordered an Arnold palmer.
Food here is not bad, but somewhat expensive given what is offered. I would say come here for lunch or dinner, but skip breakfast; eggs are good but the sides are nothing special at all. Having said that, it's better than Starbucks if all you're looking for is a coffee and a side.
I really enjoy this place for breakfast. Order at the counter, pick up your coffee, water, silverware. They bring the food and you bus. Good food, good coffee, great ambiance, not too noisy.
Nice, if slightly over-priced, breakfast and lunch cafe. Options include basic breakfast plates and sandwiches, scrambles, omelettes, and bakery items. Soup and Sandwiches for lunch.
Great atmosphere. Great lighting and Frank Lloyd Wright architecture design. Great food and very good coffee and service.
Great fresh food. Very friendly staff and reasonable prices. Casual experience.
Nice atmosphere, the breakfast burrito I had was pretty good. The latte was nice as well. A good place to grab a bite, study, read.
Excellent food, coffee, service. Tasteful craftsman design. Prices are medium compared to some fast food diners, but quality is well worth it.
Good food and good atmosphere. Blueberry pancakes with eggs and bacon.
My boyfriend and I go here every weekend, particularly to order a coffee shake and a chai latte, our favorites. We have never disliked any of the food we have gotten, in fact, we absolutely love every dish we get even when it had seemed like a stretch for our taste when we ordered it. I am a super picky eater, and yet I could probably eat anything on the menu. The staff are so friendly and helpful, the speed of service is great, even when they're busy. Some of the servers even ask for our feedback on the food when we're done eating. I think it's kind of funny that some people were giving bad reviews for bland food a while ago, it's almost like they were going to a different cafe.
Food was superb! The ambience is such that I could stay here all day!
Great service with friendly people and comfortable atmosphere. Family favorites are hash browns, 3 egg omelette, hot chocolate, coffee (blue healer).
Great food warm smiles and a very clean and welcoming space. If only they served Just Coffee!
We have lived in the neighborhood and have breakfast at Prairie Cafe about once a week. The food is consistently great and prices are reasonable considering the high quality fresh ingredients.
I enjoy the wide selection of Maya teas, brewed for you in a cast iron pot. My wife usually has a latte café. They also make many other fun coffee and tea drinks. Foggy tea is a fun one to try. And the bottomless coffee is solid as well. Collectivo fair trade coffee.
They offer a wide variety of breakfast and lunch choices. I have tried many of them and never been disappointed.
The ambiance is also quite nice. Lots of Windows provide natural light. Local artists show their art on the walls.
Love the food and atmosphere it can get very loud however and they could use a better gluten free menu.
