Lots of outdoor activities. Excellent dining. Can choose modern or historical hotel rooms or cabins. Primitive and full hook up camping.
We go to Pokagon every year for labor day weekend and have for years. The inn is always comfy and provides a great atmosphere. This park offers so many activities. There is a beach, paddle boat rentals, nature walks, playgrounds, and so much more. This is one of my favorites places in the world.
I love this place, especially the beach where there is bath house. It's so scenic. We have set up a white gazebo on the beach and had my baby shower. We had so much fun and took great photos.
I stayed here for a Mary Kay event and loved it! It was beautiful! The poor restaurant had a hard time keeping up with all us women storming it at the same time over for 2 days plus with the other guests. Despite the restaurant staff being exhausted they were very nice and helpful and took a lot of attention to detail. The actual hotel/lodge was so neat with the decor. I did not get a chance to experience the outdoor activities that trip but I plan on it next time.
My friends and I have our yearly camping trip at the group camp section of the park. Can't say enough about Pokagon. Very clean and nice for groups. Private bathroom house with hot showers, full size industrial kitchen, indoor gathering room with fireplace. The cabins are big and sleep many. The bunk beds are not the most comfortable, but you don't wake up sore. There are also smaller cabins you can choose to sleep in. The lake is beautiful. There is all kinds of hiking available and horses to ride. We've been coming 10+ years and love it!
Beautiful park, clean and well maintained. Great for biking, walking. Park entrance fee of $9 for non-residents, in addition to camping fees seems unnecessary. The General store is only open Saturday and Sunday until 2:00pm.odd.
This is a fantastic place for the whole family. Lots of indoor and outdoor activities for children and adults alike. My personal favorite is hiking for nature trails and the toboggan slide, but playing board games and video games inside is what the kids like. And don't forget the pool sauna and hot tub whenever you're in the mood.
This place is nothing but beautiful. There are several things to do while you visit. They offer horseback riding, toboggan rentals, and a beach to swim or launch your own boat. The picnic areas are very clean and you have more than enough secluded areas to choose from, you can even reserve your own spot. Admission was cheap, around 7 to 10 US dollars per car load depending if you are an Indiana resident or not. I will definitely be going back.
Plenty for all to do! Walking, biking, and horse trails! Boating and beaches! Camping with electric sites, cabins to rent, a motel with restaurant to stay comfy inn ;-) . Day visits or week long adventures. It's all good! Park rangers are very helpful and keep things in order. Please be sure to clean up after yourselves as courtesy to others coming in after you. Play safe and be well!
It's really fun
Beautiful land scapes.
Nice staff.
Great place to camp.
I have been to Pokagon State Park and stayed at Potowatomi Inn for many years, always on the off week before Thanksgiving, when the weather is uncertain and the tobogan run is not yet open. The food has been consistently stellar--we're always eating from the buffet since it's a conference, the service is cheerful, and the rooms are clean. When I wander the walking trails I realize that there is much to enjoy in the park that I never see, but I've found people from the area generally know about it and recognize the name, even though it is not near any large city. It occupies the eastern shores of Lake James, which seems to be a fisherman's destination as well as home to many cabins and country homes.
Great park and beach. The low rating is due to the campground facilities. It's time to upgrade them. Just by simply changing the shower heads, for the first time in 15 years would be a good start.
The cabins are horrible and ran down. Wasn't clean at all. Opened the refrigerator and founds another person's food in it. The cabin I rented on the web sight was not what was there. Great park but never stay there again. I was disappointed in the condition of the cabin's. They moved us to another cabin and it was cleaner but very ran down as well.
Stumbled upon this place on accident while traveling to meet a friend. I had my camper so I camped here. Very nice and clean facility. The camper spots were easy to get into. There are trails for hiking and mountain biking. One thing I saw they had was a large tobaggan run! It wasn't in operation while I was there (it's seasonal), but I will be back to try it!
