WakamatsuFest150 is happening this week! We’re proud to sponsor this event from our friends at Wakamatsu Farm in Placerville, celebrating the 150th anniversary of the first Japanese colony in America. Wakamatsu Tea & Silk Colony Farm joined the Placer Land Trust family of preserves in November 2010, through a partnership with American River Conservancy. The festival will feature Japanese and Japanese American food, art, music, performances, demonstrations, discussions, booths, historical interpretation, and more.

Cue the puns... PLT staff are out standing in their fields! We had an inspiring field trip / outdoor staff meeting this week at our Laursen Bear River Preserve, taking in the mariposa lilies, larkspur, redwing blackbirds, and majestic oaks. Spending time on the land is such a great reminder of why we protect it!

At Placer Land Trust, we protect more than just dirt — we protect clean water and air, habitat for wildlife, places to explore, and the natural wonders that make Placer County such a great place to live, work, and play. Donate now at www.bigdayofgiving.org/placerlandtrust to help us keep protecting our beautiful open spaces!

River otters are particular about where they choose to make their homes — they like to live in wetlands with plenty of natural cover, and their range is reduced by environmental pollution and habitat loss. They're remarkably playful creatures, on both land and in the water. This fellow was spotted on our Doty Ravine Preserve, where he looks very much at home!

When nonprofits collaborate, we make our community stronger together. Placer Land Trust and 916 Ink are working together to protect some of our most valuable treasures — land, youth, and literacy. And, as Executive Directors Jeff Darlington and Ian Hadley find out, we have more in common than you might think!

Big Day of Giving is officially here! Give now through midnight at www.bigdayofgiving.org/placerlandtrust, and remember — it's #MoreThanJustDirt! #BDOG2019

8-year-old Janae loves land so much that she gave $20.45, a full month's allowance, to protect it! Future generations are acting now — join them by supporting Placer Land Trust this Big Day of Giving by matching Janae’s gift, or more!
