John Scalera is a professional computer graphic artist from Sparta, New Jersey, with extensive experience in both production and instruction.
Since 1997, John has worked as a graphic artist at various companies, including Reed Elsevier Publishing, Dun and Bradstreet, and Propellor Communications. He has also freelanced for numerous clients over the years, some of which are Becton Dickinson Pharmaceuticals, Colgate, International Flavor and Fragrances, Hypnotix Games, Audio Slave, and The Creative Group.
In addition to corporate work, John has spent the last 16 years as an instructor. He’s taught at Fairleigh Dickinson University and Anthem Institute, was a training instructor for high school teachers through Synergis Technologies, and currently, John teaches at Hackettstown High School.
John’s areas of expertise include Adobe Photoshop, Digital Photography, Motion Graphics and Video Game Design. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University and his Master of Fine Arts from the Art Academy University in San Francisco, specializing in Special FX and Video Game Design. He holds a NJ teaching certification in Career and Technical Education.
When not wrangling pixels, John enjoys playing and teaching guitar, photography, and barbecuing. He is married with two daughters, ages 5 and 14.
