Sometimes you wonder why a place keeps its reputation among the public. Steak was not tender at all, nor did it remotely taste like the Prime Dry Aged steak. It was cooked poorly, with a linear gradient from rare in the center to charred on the outside. I suspect that if I had seen the uncooked steak, it would've lacked the prime marbling that makes for a great steak, as it certainly didn't show at all. A waste of $180 for just the 3 person steak, after taxes.
The sides we're utterly plain. The spinach was very plain and flavorless. The baked potatoes were just dry, and the sour cream wasn't noteworthy at all.

Take your hard earned $250 and give it to any one of the many other establishments in New York that can serve a proper steak.

One extra star for the service. Zero stars for the food and price.

Food and service is exceptional. Steak made perfectly to order. Tomato and onion, sliced bacon a MUST!!! Not to pleased about potatoes this time around. That's why it's a 4. They take Luger's credit card and cash only. Bread was fresh and Luger's sauce can't be beat. Love the Brooklyn location better. Schlage, cheese cake and chocolate cake was great.

I was told that this is one of the best steak houses in the country.. and its up there cause the food really good. A giant steak to be shared at the table, great bread, and simplistic pairings that have their own twist. Tomato and Onions; Fried Potatoes; Wedge Salad with the thickest cut bacon you may ever experience. Being my first time there I may have been oversold on it. I guess i was expecting more luxury Instead i was presented with a restaurant that was seemingly stuck in time. Small restaurant feel, small simple menu, warm wood adorned walls with tables close enough that you if you lean back in your chair you'd be sitting at the next table over. It was a Wednesday night at 6:30 and yet every table was filled. Peter Luger's has been around for over 100 years.. and they'll probably be around for another 100.

Great steak, much better service than the Brooklyn location. The waiters here are nicer and friendlier than Brooklyn's location. They pretend to care about you more. The food is always consistent and high quality. It's a nice place for a treat, but of course, is not affordable for weekly meals.

Wow, what a disappointment. Went there for the first time for my son's birthday. We were looking so forward to the Peter Luger's experience. First the food, the steak was just OK, shrimp overcooked, lobster burnt, french fries soggy, spinach cold. I think the only thing decent was the bread. Now, the service. We were seated and our order was taken pretty quickly. From that moment on our waiter was standing with a group of other waiters in the dining room just talking, not for five minutes but 15 minutes at a time. Everytime we needed something I had to interrupt the waiter who was in deep conversation with the other wait staff. So for $480.00 it was a complete waste of money and a big disappointment. Save your money and go to Outback for a quarter of the money. I wish I had read the other reviews and I wouldn't have gone here.

Very good. But the food we didn't finish they just dumped it away. But it's way tooooo expensive. We ate like$500. A plate potato costs$7.50 or something. Though there's not much, it tastes really good. The salmon, beef was really good. Highly recommend, but too expensive.

I went here for the first time last night and was happy. The service was excellent and the steak was good. The steak (porterhouse for two) easily can eaten by one if you are a big eater like me; however it was very tender and tasty. Is it worth a try?.. without a doubt, definitely give it a go, but i probably will not go back.. just remember bring cash.

First and last time to this location. When called, place said dress should be business to bus. casual. Took my family and dressed appropriately, so I thought. Once in the door, saw nothing but jeans, T-shirts, and no sense of "appropriate attire". Next, was seated next to a guy that kept getting calls on his cell phone, his kids standing on the chairs and non-stop noise (this was a Sunday evening). Waiter was ok, but seemed to have a hard time understanding us. Had to repeat questions several times. Food arrived quickly and was average to above average, but not what I expected. For the price, I expected much more all factors combined, just wasn't my kind of place. A year it was a bad day, maybe it was the guy in the T-shirt getting calls throughout dinner, or maybe it was my much higher expectations, but as I left, I told my wife I could have just left Outback and wouldn't have know the difference.

From the moment you enter peter Luger's you inhale a smell of cooked delicious meets and juicy steaks. After sitting down at the simple but cozy table I ordered the steak with a side of bacon and fries. When I bit into the bacon my mouth tasted the true taste of ecstasy it is so perfectly cooked that it makes your mouth water. And then the fries and the steak. A perfect combination that tastes magical. I felt like a wizard in a food castle. Luckily I missed the fabulous cheque. Three hours later I experienced a stomach rumble and purged my stomach in thirty six and a half seconds. As Daria once said "you can't go wrong with Peter luger".

Couldn't make it to the original Brooklyn location, so my friend and I decided to go here instead. It was my first time going to Peter Luger's, and I am so glad that I did. We ordered the bacon, tomatoes, and steak for 3 (yep, we eat a lot!). The bacon was amazing and the tomatoes were massive! I've never seen tomatoes that big before and I absolutely love tomatoes, so they were my favorite. The steak was delicious, except if I were to go there again, I would maybe ask to not have the steak chopped up into pieces. It made the steak cold quite fast. I definitely would be going here again in the future though.

Great steaks! A must go before you die. Great service here and the steak is amazing. You can taste how the meat aged and it has a completely different steak than your traditional restaurant steak. Also if your feeling appetizers go for the slice of bacon! It's very think and juicy, great way to start your meal. I have a medium steak with the German potatoes

Perhaps the most tender steak I've ever had, but far from the most flavorful. Service was very professional. This place is EXTRAORDINARILY EXPENSIVE. Total cost for an appetizer, two salads, two steaks w/potatoes, and a 20% tip was $220 (No alcohol ordered). Quite overpriced for what is being offered in return. I suppose a person is being charged for the "experience" here, more so than the food itself. There are more flavorful steaks out there, served in a similar atmosphere and for less money, so I doubt I'll come back here unless someone else has their heart set on this place.

Very good steak.. very good. only reason not 5 staring this place is simply because the Brooklyn one is that little bit better.. However, if someone in your party does not eat steak, then this Peter Luger gets 5 Stars, they have many different choices other than steak Brooklyn.. NONE. Enjoy.

I am NOT a huge fan of steak, in fact this is the first time that I have had steak in a few months. I have to say, this steak was pretty good however I don't think that the cost is justified. There were 7 of us and we ordered three sets of the steak, two medium-well plates and one medium plate. We also got the well known bacon before we got the steak. There wasn't too much fat on the bacon which was relieving since that is my least favorite aspect of red meat which is why I choose not to eat it on a regular basis. The steak itself was actually delicious! The texture was perfect and melted in my mouth. I ate a lot more than I expected I would and enjoyed every bit of it. I also shared the Holy Cow ice cream sundae with Marvin and even after the steak, we devoured it. It was a pretty average ice cream but the whipped cream was above par. It is apparently home made! Overall, if you have a really large craving for steak and a good hearty meal, this is definitely the place to go. P.S. CASH ONLY!
