Great place to understand Arizona wild life - especially birds. We saw a flock of about 10 wild turkeys in additions to lots of hummingbirds, a young red tailed hawk, and an egret. Matt Brown gave an excellent nature walk.

Lots of walking trails, hummingbird viewing area, adequate parking, $6 fee. I must see if you like to hike on old railroad grade.

Wonderful! I could spend days walking around the preserve. I saw 5 different species of Hummingbirds, including a Violent-crowned Hummingbird, and a Vermillion Flycatcher. The Preserve is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays; but, you can still walk Blue Heaven Road. I spotted a Grey Hawk and a juvenile Grey Hawk just past the Preserve entrance. The Preserve is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

Volunteered on this beautiful preserve for the AZ Nature Conservancy's 50th anniversary event. I had never seen this part of the state before and the walking trails on this preserve are absolutely beautiful, with more types of birds than I have ever seen.
No dogs are allowed to protect the birds and other wildlife.

The preserve itself is nice. Lots of wildlife, deer and birds to see. The lady at the reception area was nice. The man on the ATV NOT SO NICE. He came raring towards is yelling they were closed 20 minutes ago and insulted us. He say what are you on Canadian time? Not sure if we were interrupting his happy hour from his on site motorhome lair but he was VERY RUDE.
He stormed away on the ATV running into a sign post as he turned around.
I will NOT be back. There is no need to be such a jerk and if he hates tourists and his job so much he should move on.
