Delicious food, friendly atmosphere, and terrific waitresses. Exceeds all expectations. Definitely a spot to visit very frequently.

My personal favorite restaurant! I refer all my customers there, you can bring your own fish & have them cooked anyway you'd like for a very reasonable price. I've never had a complaint back from a customer in the last 10 years or so since I've been referring them there & that means a lot!!!

If you love fried seafood this is YOUR PLACE! !!! The only place in in town to get a seafood platter. ..big enough for two!!! The calamari is the best anywhere I have been!!! I just wish the service there was more friendly....sometimes they are and sometimes they are not.

Read the reviews first and really wanted raw local oysters. My husband and I sat at the oyster bar. He ordered a dozen steamed and I ordered a dozen raw. They were not only small but the server said they were from Virginia not local. They place was almost empty at 8PM on a Saturday night. We paid our bill and went across the street to The Station Raw bar to see if we could have better luck and hopefully get local oysters. Very Disappointed with Pappa Joes.

Update. The Station is apparently a converted gas station. Jake waited on us at the bar. I asked if the oysters were from here. He said they were. My husband ordered a smoked mullet and I had wonderful plump local oysters. Paid a little more but it was with it. The place was busy but not packed.
Try the Station if you want great service and local seafood.

I specifically asked the waitress if the gumbo was good and she said it was the best. It tasted like Campbell's minestrone soup with rubbery seafood in it and it was cold. My wife's steak was undercooked and the waitress never checked on us while we were there. I have heard good things from locals about this place and from all accounts this place used to be good. There are better resturaunts in town to eat. I would suggest avoiding papa joes at all costs.

We have been eating at Papa Joe's at least once or twice on our yearly vacations for over 10 years now. A few years ago they moved from being right on the bay to another building downtown and since then both the service and the food have hit an all time low. Each trip we return hoping it's gotten better but last week was our final Papa Joe's adventure. We were seated and our waitress took our drink orders quickly. However, it was at least 20 minutes before she returned. Once she took our food orders she let us know that the kitchen was really backed up and that we should have been told that when we were seated. After over an hour our food arrived and most of it was not fit to eat, either burnt to a crisp or thrown together without all of the things that should have been with the meal. When we asked the waitress to please have a manager come over she said, "I'm real sorry y'all are so unhappy, I've tried to take really good care of y'all but y'all knew it was going to be a long wait." We let her know that it wasn't her service that we were unhappy with it was mostly the wait time and the food quality. She pointed to the door and said, "well you know where the door is..." We will not be returning...EVER!

The food is excellent. Their Key Lime Pie is the best. Service is wonderful. Every time I go to Apalachicola I just have to stop at my favorite restaurant. They treat me like family.

Love their food! Oysters are delicious, the hush puppies are the best I've ever had, and of course the grilled grouper is excellent and cooked just right! This trip I tried the Seafood Bisque and it was wonderful! Papa Joe's is a permanent top choice on my list!

Best place in Apalachicola for oysters and other fish sandwich. Sit at the bar in the afternoons and meet James and his wife. Fantastic people.

Place was simple. Took awhile to get seated even though the place was empty. Food was good and waiter was good. Wasn't amazing but wasn't bad either. Great family atmosphere.
