I've been going to this beautiful park for 35 years when my mother and I moved into the area. Have had many cookouts, hiked many trails, went swimming in the pool, plenty of picnics, sat and watched so many sunsets over the lake that I've lost count, went with my son's school on field trips there, fished, and even fed apples to the deer. With all that being said, I've still not done the place justice. It is truly peaceful and well maintained. I'm absolutely delighted that I live less than 10 minutes from it. It's quite stress relieving for me.
Just a beautiful park. Love walking around there. So much fun. I do wish the would update their playground equipment though.
This is a lovely state park basically in my back yard. Has a pool during the summer, camping, pavillions, a creek, a lake, hiking trails, etc. The park Rangers are awesome. They also have events that you can attend. From looking for wildlife to edible plants. There is also a playground, soccer fields, Frisbee golf, volleyball, etc. They also host a fall event around Halloween for families. Hay rides, etc. And in the spring they have an art/home made craft type fair. It really is a nice park to visit since it is so close. As far as coming from a distance it depends on what you are wanting to do. If you are wanting to sit around your campsite and maybe go grab a bite to eat from time to time it would be great. We have many great local restaurants. We also have the smokey mountains 45mins-1hr away. It would be a pleasant non expensive vacation.
Great camping area and nice trails. Pretty new disc golf course and a large swimming pool. Play area for children and covered panic areas and some spread out ones. Boat ramp isn't acessiable from main park entrance but is right down the road. Nice quite place great for walking running and bicycling.
I love this park. We have pictures taken here every year almost. The kids played here when they were little! It’s just a great little place to come :) Bring your picnic basket with you! ♥️
Outstanding State Park!
We've stayed at many state parks, all over the Southeast. This is one of the best! There are miles of trails (hiking, biking, and horse) for all different levels, very nice campgrounds, pavilions, lake activities (swimming and boating), wonderful scenery, plenty of wildlife, etc. Everything you'd want in a state park! The only minor complaint is the reservation site doesn't do a very good job of indicating which campsites have full hook ups and which don't. However, that doesn't stop of us from coming back. FYI, only sites 34-46 on the inside of the loop have sewer hookups. With everything else the park offers, don't let this keep you away!
This is our second time here and we will be back!
Great place to get back to nature. From 8 to 80 there's something for everyone. Great place for a picnicking , biking , fishing, swimming, reunions and even marriages. Surely there's something for just about everyone.
We only live 3 miles from this park and we can't imagine living any further from it! There are many trails to hike, run as well as bike riding and trails for horseback riding. I run here 3 to 4 times per week. There's a beautiful creek that runs thru the middle of the park that is stocked with trout in the spring and there are soccer fields as well as a public swimming pool and basketball courts. It's a wonderful place to bring your family! There's also access to Lake Cherokee. Don't forget to bring your dog!
Great place to hike and enjoy! Too bad people don't understand the "garbage in, garbage out". We picked up a garbage bag full of trash on the Ridge Crest Trail. Come on people!
Very large pretty state park. Lots of walking, mountain biking, and horse trails. Campground and playground, plus pool and lake overlook.
Panther Creek is one of our favorite places to visit. The campground is very well kept with lots of trails to enjoy, along with a swimming pool and much more. After a day of fun, it's great to know the bath houses are unbelievably nice and clean. So a long hot shower is also a plus. Park rangers and staff are always friendly and helpful.
Lots of various hiking trails. All kinds of terrain even lakefront. There are some amazing views. There is a nice camp ground. Good sized swimming pool. Views of Lake Cherokee just beautiful. Very friendly ranger station eith lots of info. Great place to take kids & enjoy the great outdoors.
Very peaceful park. The campground has 50 paved sites. The sites are fairly easy to back into with limited obstacles. We stayed in site #22 the description read slight incline which we found it to be a very slight incline. Lots of activities for everyone to enjoy, along with numerous trails for walking, horses and bicycles. Great place for all.
