I love this library. It's the best one I ever been. The staff treat you like family. It's like a second home to me.

Very clean and well organized. The staff is extremely helpful and study rooms are great for groups.

WOW, what an incredible Library! Something you would expect in a major city. The staff are so friendly, helpful, willing, and delightful to all, child, student, adult and senior. One of the best things Oxford has to offer and all for free! If you have children you MUST take them here. Especially under 7. You can really sense the staff care.

The staff is terrific. The programs are great. The unconventional lending projects -- tablets, ukuleles -- are brilliant.

I thoroughly hate the new building. It is neither beautiful nor sensible. It looks simply utilitarian but it doesn't even really succeed at that. It has cavernous high ceilings and is therefore expensive to heat and cool. The lighting is good but the space is too open and noisy. All the upholstered furniture is too low and there isn't enough variety in types of seating.

The new space has a blank commercial spiritlessness to it. Nothing to induce any more feeling than you would have for a foyer in a shopping mall.

The only things that depart from this blankness are the murals salvaged from Western College, and they are ugly and silly. Even if I liked them I would feel they are out of place in the current warehouse-like setting, and do nothing to improve it.

The sides of the staircase consist of plexiglass with strips of shredded paper embedded in it. I find it painful to see all that cut-up damaged print. I usually take the elevator just to avoid looking at it. Decoration consisting of shredded text feels destructive and incoherent to me, and it does not even have the virtue of being colorful. But even apart from my very personal emotional reaction against it, it's just a bad choice. It has low decorative value at present and what color the paper does have will fade with time. Both the paper and the plexiglass will probably yellow.

Also the building needs better ventilation. There are still flooring and furnishing fumes from the "new" stuff, now almost two years old.

My big functional complaint is the difficulty of using ebooks, both within the Lane system and through the consortiums. Downloads often fail and there is not a good unified easy-to-understand instructional resource for dealing with the quirks of various devices and software. I hate the fact that you must have an Adobe account in order to download books across multiple devices, and that Adobe then knows your email address and can access information from your use of its services -- a library should not be pimping its patrons to a corporation.

The awkward state of the electronic services is quite painful to me, as the number of paper books is decreasing and reliance on electronic formats is clearly the way of the future. I want very much for ebooks to *work*.

Great location, friendly staff, stringed instrument lending library, study rooms, books, movies, music, various fun or educational programs. If they don't have it, use the Ohio library swap they have set up, hoopla, overdrive, click it. Pretty much everything I wanted in a library and didn't know existed.

All the upholstered furniture is too low and there isn't enough variety in types of seating.

The new space has a blank commercial spiritlessness to it. It communicates nothing, it gives nothing, not grace or elegance or homeyness or sense of place, nothing cozy, nothing inspirational or grand, nothing meditative, nothing challenging, nothing reassuring, nothing thought-provoking, nothing meditative, nothing welcoming --- just, nothing. Not even the little bits of abstract stained glass which graced the stairwell of the old building. Nothing to relate to. Nothing to induce any more sense of loyalty or love or present-ness than you would feel for a foyer in a shopping mall.

The only things that depart from this blankness are the murals salvaged from Western College and the sides of the staircase.

The murals are sort of amusing and have a retro charm, but they are also awkward, faded, amateurish, and vaguely insulting or at least irrelevant to modern women, as they seem to suggest that college is mostly a place for women with perfect coifs and girdled figures to play sports and to fawn over men. The murals are so enormous that you can not escape looking at them. Even if I liked them I would feel they are out of place in the current warehouse-like setting, and do nothing to improve it.

Disappointed with new building. I like that it is large, but it doesn't seem to have as many materials as it did before. My biggest issue is with the children's section. It is not contained and it is right next to the new books, the 14 day books, the dvds, etc. Some of us that aren't into children find it very hard to spend any time in this area due to the noise, etc. And it pretty much spreads across the whole first floor.

The new location gives us room to spread out and have our our own space, yet still be sociable. And we are linked to other libraries making it possible to get the materials we are looking for, no matter what ! The staff are always courteous and knowledgeably, and want to help you find what It Is that you are looking for. You can't tell by their excitement if the library item is for them or you.

Best Library, best staff, hand's down !

    Thank You !
