Great place. Nice showers. Clean facilities. Campsite was perfect, quiet (no generators). Staff was very helpful. We will definitely be returning.
Situated on a historic site in the Shenandoah Valley. Open 12 months a year. Large sites with full service. Pet friendly. Great owners. Close to shopping and historic sites. Will be back.
We stayed in the primitive area, which is down a huge hill. The hill is a huge pain, but if you can tough it out, then it is worth it. For those who can't tough it out, then they have golf carts to rent. They have a few strange rules: no firewood can be brought outside the camp, can't collect loose branches on the ground, and no hammocks tied to trees.
Staff is very friendly, bathrooms are well maintained, and it has great access to the river for tubing. I advise checking out Flotzie's, Red Hill Distillery, and Luray Caverns if you haven't been before and are in the area.
My buddy and our wives made an 8 hour round trip to visit RV parks up through the valley. We stopped here after driving 3.5 hours to check out the camp ground we have 45 foot motor homes and if possible like to check out sites before making reservations. Well the young lady was very nice but refused to let us see the sites to insure our coaches would fit. In all my years of travel have never been refused a tour of the park. WE WILL NEVER USE THIS PARK. BEFORE MAKING RESERVATIONS MAKE SURE YOU READ THERE RULES LIST may tell you what you may be working with.
My husband and i came here for our honeymoon the staff was VERY friendly. Very well kept place. Bathrooms were very clean. Grounds are very well kept as well. The site we were on has a beautiful view of the mountains. Nice quie peaceful place. We will definitely return.
Stayed here on New Years day last year. There were no employees staffed because of the Holiday but they still allowed check-ins with detailed instructions when we got there. The camp ground was in excellent condition and just a short drive away from Skyline Drive. The night skies in the winter in the Shenandoah Valley are incredible. First time I've ever seen the Milkyway stretch across the night sky, picture perfect. The bathroom's were even heated and served as a shelter from severe weather.
Decided to take our daughter camping for the first time over spring break and could not have chosen a better place to bring her! The property is beautiful and well-maintained. Great amenities--bath houses were well-lit and clean, fire pits and picnic tables for each site as well as a larger public grill under a pavilion, and the check in cabin had just about anything you might have ended up needing along the way. We stayed in a primitive riverfront site, which was a definite workout to get to as it's down a steep hill, but it was well worth the burn. (Carts and wheelbarrows are provided to make trips up and down easier.) Quick access to the trails across the camp and a small slope to the riverbank. Staff were all extremely friendly and accommodating! They made us feel welcome and at-home instantly upon arrival.
Camp is in a great location--5 minutes to the nearest shopping center for gas and groceries, 10 minutes to Luray Caverns, and 20 to the entrance of Skyline Drive.
We went during off-season and the pricing was fantastic for the quality of our stay! We will certainly be returning and would recommend Outlanders to anyone looking for a nice place to nestle up in the valley.
Camp is conveniently located in a 15 minutes drive from the Shenandoah National Park. It is quiet and nice place where you can stay for the night in your tent or an RV. Each tent spot has a fireplace and a table with a bench. Some have electricity to charge your phone or a computer. Bathrooms are clean and have a hot water. There are only 1 urinal, 2 toilets and 3 showers there for men, 3 showers and 3 toilets for women. It might be not enough at times. When I was staying there, there was also a bit of a bad smell coming from the septic tank, thus 4 stars. Accommodation per person in 2016 is $45 in a tent and minimum 2 nights are required.
Small campground with excellent water access. Grounds well kept. Most RV spots have sewer and power hookups.
Our 7th summer camping here. Such a great place beautifully nestled in between the mountains and the river.
Everything was great! There were plenty of activities. The cost was not bad at all. You can go tubing, kayaking, canoeing and fishing. There are activities in the surrounding area too. Luray Caverns, Garden Maze, Rope Adventure Park, Car and Carriage Museums (for a fee) and lots of scenic areas to visit. The reason I gave them 4 stars is the nets, flies and/or beetles took over the place. Otherwise, they would have rated 5 stars.
ANIMAL LOVERS PLEASE READ!!
We decided to go to this campground for a week in the summer of 2015. We had some family members stay there and liked it. We were looking really forward to it till we went to make reservations and they claim to be pet friendly but obviously they don't know breeds and temperament of the breeds. We have a 10 year old Great Dane( Gentle Giant) weighs 100lbs those are the less aggressive of almost all breeds. They told us we couldn't bring her and we were welcome but she wasn't. Well they lost my entire family money. I was very upsetnot cause we couldn't stay but the stupidity of the people running this place. Maybe they need to do better research on dogs before denying a dog to come stay! Even when my Great Dane is gone.I wont stay there!! I would much rather be around her than your smallest breeds that do bark and bite.. I am a dog lover and she is a part of my family and where she isn't welcome I wont be going!!
