Love the trails around oil Creek state park. We always go in Titusville and Rouseville. There is a nice bike trail and little to long trails for families. There is Bridges and waterfalls scattered throughout the park.
Great place. The shelter set up is perfect.
Best place for winter camping. Adirondacks keep you nice and warm despite freezing temps, and a beautiful park to visit when it's covered in snow. Been coming here for 15+ years and it has always been great.
A friend and I went skiing here on the coldest day this winter (Jan 7th 2017-2018). The snow was great. And the blue trail that we did was really scenic. The warming hut was warm...and the park staff very helpful. Plenty of parking.
It may be that I'm spoiled...having liven in Wisconsin. So, my expectation of what a groomed trail looks like may be different than what is typical in PA. But...these trails are "cleared" and packed down...as opposed to "groomed". Grooming in Wisconsin involves actually packing in cross-country ski tracks to follow. Granted...the snow was barely deep enough to try to do that. So...maybe that is what they do with a better base. That being said...I can't wait to go back and try some other trails.
Awesome hiking and biking trails. The best shelters on the trails!
Beautiful train ride from Titusville to Oil City and back. Beautiful fall day to relax on a nice train ride.
Great place to hike! Scenery is awesome and shelters are created uniquely with their own fire pits!
I must confess that despite living only 16 miles from the southern border of this park, I never spent much time here until about 3 years ago. I had the "if it's close to home, it can't be any good" mentality and always went to Cook Forest or Clear Creek for my "outdoor fix". Then I saw an article online titled "Ten Must See State Parks In Pennsylvania" and Oil Creek was on that list. I began to explore the place more in depth and by doing so, met up with some people whom I knew from my photography hobby. They introduced me to things like the backpacking shelters, the group camping area and the interpretive trails in Wildcat Hollow. Now I spend time at Oil Creek in every season. I find something new with every visit. My experience with the park staff has always been pleasurable. In closing I will say that I think I am not alone in my former manner of thinking about OCSP because I encounter so many people when I am at the park who travel INSANE distances just to visit. Then, I will strike up a conversation with people who live locally who have never set foot within the park's boundaries. You owe it to yourself to visit Oil Creek State Park. The newspaper and magazine articles are right...... this IS one of the ten "must see" parks in Pennsylvania.
I love the views here. Such a peace ful place. Quiet and relaxing.
Great place to bike and hike. Drake Well Museum and old Oil Creek rail train. Camping in the Titusville - Oil City area. Oil history is on display in musium area. Old train available for a ride along Oil Creek.
We love Oil Creek State Park. We visit the Wolfkiel site every summer on the same our annual camping trip. It is our favorite family place
Another stop along my Lake Erie road trip. Foggy weather and a little light rain actually made my visit here more fun, I think. I spent most of my time down near Petroleum Centre checking out the old derricks and the old town. Id didn't get a chance to visit the museum, so I'll have to make back out there some day.
One of the best bike trials NW PA. Beautiful scenery. Smooth blacktop trail surface over seven miles long - one way. Very few other bikers. Sometimes I feel like I have the whole park to myself.
Beautiful, scenic, easy access. Hiking, biking, fishing, canoeing, and more!
Great play area and hiking trails
I loved exploring this park! I can't wait to take my bike or kayak back to explore some more!
The bike trail is real nice. Flat stretches and some hills. Follows the river and is quite shaded in spots. Be prepared for bugs. History along the way as well.
Great Trails. Cow Run shelters were nice. Firewood was available.
