I recently had a two-hour private lesson at 9 am last week, and overall, it was a positive experience. The instructor was friendly and supportive, which helped me catch some waves and successfully stand up on the surfboard. However, there is one aspect that could be improved. Despite each of us having our own instructor, they grouped all of us together, including two other couples and one additional girl at the same time. So 6 students in total. This arrangement led to periods of waiting for others to take their turns, which disrupted the flow of the lesson. It felt more like a semi-group/group lesson rather than the one-on-one private lesson I had anticipated.
The surf instructors are super nice!! The lessons were very fun and super professional. The new shop has very cool souvenirs. Definitely recommend
Great experience for our family of six with four kids. We always felt safe and it was a great way to learn to surf. We spent four days surfing with them. Our 7 year old had a private instructor who was super patient each day. My husband also chose to have a private instructor to go on more advanced waves. The four others shared two instructors. They also had a great photographer and I didn’t feel like they overcharged for photos like some places do. We loved the location as well right on Waikiki beach. They were super flexible and willing to work with us on our changing schedules.
My family had an amazing experience with Ohana Surf Project. Aside from the kids having a blast and asking to take another lesson as they were drying off, the whole experience from booking to the lesson to receiving the pictures was nothing short of incredible. The logistics were planned to the T and safety was always the #1 priority. They had us all standing up on the board in a short amount of time, and catered to the kids each time they had to paddle back out and always making sure they were ok and having fun. Highly highly recommend Ohana Surf Project! Big thanks to Kevin and L for making this such a memorable experience, it was the highlight of our vacation.
My son and I took semi-private lessons before we flew home. Roland and the rest of the crew were maikaʻi loa. (Except for Tyler bringing me bad luck I kid Tyler was maikaʻi loa, too).
Everyone was patient and encouraging and made sure we had a great time. They really made us feel like ohana.
They captured a lot of great photos and videos too.
