The staffing is comprised of 10 Firefighters. 2 Lieutenants, 2 Captains, 1 Chief. The Fire Department provides fire suppression and emergency medical services to at least 50 buildings that are mixed between Labs, and general purpose buildings. NIST sits on 578 acres and has Approx. 3000 employees and researchers on campus during the business day. The Fire Department provides mutual aide to Montgomery County Fire.
The shift that the firefighters work is a 48/72, with a total of 6 Firefighters there during the day.

Members from the NIST Fire Department just completed Confined Space Rescue Training. This class teaches the proper ways to rescue victims that are in confined spaces.

Come out and support the Montgomery County Career Fire Fighters Charitable Foundation tomorrow night at Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery in Bethesda. For the Fire Chief Ale tapping party, there will be a silent auction and other specials. A portion of the proceeds will be donated back to the charitable foundation. Come out and have a good time.
