This place has horrible management and customer service.
We had reservations for 8:15 for my daughter’s birthday dinner which were made days ago.
Got a call from the hostess at 7:58 telling me she could not accommodate us due to a sudden large party.
No apologies. No alternative accommodations made for us.
Just told us we could go next door to their sister restaurant for steak (which my mother doesn’t eat) and oysters (super 15 year old appropriate right?!?!)
Then the manager promised to try and get us another reservation. Took my number but never called back.
Terrible way to run a business.
Loved the ambiance, that would be the best reason to go back. Lots of little plates, some of the faves were the beef and the pizza. The pizza comes with a fried egg on top, and you can ask for truffles separately to go on top of it. There is also a potato dish that comes with truffle oil, that was good too. Apparently the desserts and the brunch are good, I will be back with mum for brunch.
The food isn't great. Drinks aren't great. A+ for decor though
Came here with my wife and daughter for a night out. Jody is the person too see. Great suggestions for wine and food... Definately coming back!
Based on a private event, I cannot comment on certain things.
The atmosphere was really nice and provided an open, but intimate experience. The main floor is well lit, but the back sections are darker, colder, and quieter. The valet had a text system which was convenient.
The food was better at times than others. The ingredients seemed fresh and lots of variety, but salad was overdressed, pasta a bit salty, and beef had what seemed like too much smoke (liquid smoke?).
Overall, nice place for hosting events. Oh but people kept getting confused which bathroom to go to! Maybe pictures of men and women are not enough? Lol
The food here was amazing. It's a little different because they do family style dining, so everyone in the group has to agree on what dishes to get for the table (and the wait staff isn't the best at explaining this). They have a raw section of the menu for tar-tar, an appetizer section, pasta section and then a cooked meat section.
As a gluten free person there was plenty on the menu for me and it was all marked GF.
If you come at night it will be somewhat noisy and dark, ok for date but it was a little weird going with coworkers.
The decor is very upscale, but I also didn't feel the need to dress up.
Love, love, love! As usual, food, drink and service were on point!
Jodie helped us, and had great cocktail recommendations
Very good food and a safe wine list. The interior is cool and swank. The service was friendly and helpful.
Stopped in for cocktails after dinner and I was supper impressed with the service. One friend ordered water and the bartender suggested he make her a mocktail! He took the kind of flavors she liked into consideration when making her drink. I thought that was awesome. Bartenders were great and the drinks are delicious! I loved the ambience (I'm a sucker for chandeliers) and can't wait to come back to try out the menu.
Looked this place up and recommended it for a friend's birthday, we had a reservation for 4. Upon walking in my friends were told they didn't have a reservation by a hostess that was pretty abrupt with them. My friend showed the hostess her call log and the hostess said "fine I believe you" after surveying Her phone. They were then seated to the farthest seats in the house, away from the general ambiance. While I was on my way my friends called me and told me about the crappy service and how they felt like they were being ushered to the back of the house, where the wait staff goes in and out. We changed plans and decided to go elsewhere... I didn't even get a chance to walk in and am quite embarrassed because they went there per my recommendation. Unacceptable....
Despite some prior issues, the food and service on our most recent visit were both above average for the area.
I've always loved this restaurant, with one of the most gorgeous interiors in Chicago. The room is cavernous but it still feels intimate no matter which table you're at.
The waitstaff is great and I've always enjoyed my meals. They also have a great brunch for those in the know.
Randolph has a ton of restaurant choices these days but Nellcote remains of my go-to choices for the neighborhood.
