Neighborhood Centers of Corpus Christi can trace is its’ roots to a missionary program established by the Federated Missionary Society on November 3, 1926. The program consisted primarily of afternoon Sunday school and Church School services that were conducted by each of the Missionary Society Members Church. Over time this strictly Missionary program failed to adequately meet the needs of the community.

A careful survey and study of the needs of the neighborhood was conducted during 1941-1942. As a result the program was re-aligned to a Community Settlement Program that promoted better racial understanding as well as an outlet for cultural patterns and talents. The name of the organization became The Community Settlement House of Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas and was incorporated on May 6th, 1946 was incorporated under the laws of the state of Texas as a non-profit organization. On March 9th, 1955 a charter amendment provided for the expansion of the purposes of the corporation to include compliance with the aims and policies of the National Federation of Settlements and Neighborhood Centers, and increased the Board of Director from three to not less than nine or more than thirty members.

To more adequately describe the services offered, the name was changed from the Community Settlement House of Corpus Christi, Texas to Neighborhood Centers of Corpus Christi, Texas on March 4, 1965 where we still operate under that name.

We currently operate 4 day care centers that are located primarily on the west side of Corpus Christi. At our Molina facility we operate recreation programs that host daily recreation activities during the summer. Our Gollihar facility also has an attached boxing gym that is home to our boxing team. Both recreation programs are aimed at the youth of the community and are open to the public.

Neighborhood Centers is a Charter Agency of the United Way of the Coastal Bend.

  Come out and have dinner at Peter Piper Pizza while supporting Neighborhood Centers of Corpus Christi. Mention Neighborhood Centers at the register when ordering food and 15% of your purchase will be donated to NCCC. last year was a great success.

  Just a reminder that the Summer Camp dates for 2017 at Sunday July 23rd thru Wed July 26th. Volunteers and staff return on Thur July 27th. We'll start registration May 1, 2017.

  Getting ready for our 65th trek to the Texas Hill Country with our outdoor summer education program lovingly referred to as summer camp 2016.   Getting ready for 25 amateur bouts starting at 2 pm. It's the quiet before the rumble. Just an awesome site to see the gym transformed into a Boxing arena. Admission is only $7 and all proceeds go to fund the boxing team here at the center. Bring the family out and have a great time watching these young warriors battle it for the trophies.

  This year we celebrated 60 years of Camping at the H.E. Butt Foundation Camp and 64 years of camping in the Texas Hill Country. But get ready for 2016 because we got our dates already. Mark your calendar for July 24th - July 28, 2016 and plan on being part of a bigger and better event than before. Thanks to all the folks from the HEB Camp who joined us for out celebration commemorating 60 years!

  Camp nurses, check. Cook, check, lifeguards, check. Volunteers, check. It's Summer Camp 2015 as we celebrate 60 years of visiting HEB Foundation Camp and 62 years of camping in the Texas Hill Country. Camp.dates this year are July 26 thru July 30.
