I needed to make funeral arrangements for a friend. It was a complicated situation but Tim McGillen went above and beyond to do what needed to be done made sure it got done quickly so as to not cause more complications. Tim personally walked the paperwork by hand to all the places it needed to go in downtown Ann Arbor. Tim was kind, patient, thoughtful and is the best person I have ever worked with making funeral arrangements.
Very slow to send cremated remains and absolutely no follow through on death certificates.
Muehlig's took care of every aspect of the funeral--from cremation to setting everything up for the memorial service, to arrange for the catering of food after the service. I couldn't have asked for anything more.
great place to arrange the burial of your loved one,
Unfortunately, we don't have good things to say about Mueligs. When our mother died we met with one of the funeral directors who was in all ways dysfunctional. He was a classic undertaker who gave off an air of seediness and sleeze. At the moment we needed compassion and understanding and a willingness to work with us. The discussion was all about what they could not do because it was the weekend. This was simply not acceptable, as most funeral issues span the weekends in order to accommodate work schedule. Further the building has not had a nickel put into it in the past 50 years, it is badly in need of an update and is pretty run down. While Meuhligs has the brand name and a long standing history in Ann Arbor, it is no longer the gold standard of Ann Arbor. Meuhligs is no longer family run as it was sold to the largest funeral home operator in the country and is now migrating to profit ahead of compassion as their business model.
Muehligs did provide us with another funeral director, but too little help too late.
Alternatively, there is another place called NIE on the edge of town that we met with and though we did not use them, they seemed much more in touch current times and their facilities are beautiful..
Good luck!
