  Mount Vernon City Park Department appears to mean the square. The place is simple but nice. In the center is a column topped by a Confederate soldier facing South. There's a water fountain, and at least one drinking fountain. To one side is a memorial dedicated to all of the soldiers from Mount Vernon. Each soldier's name is engraved on a brick. There are four quadrants to the square, and each one has a diagram depicting the tree and tree types found in it. Overall, it's a nice place for some quiet, if you don't mind some traffic noise.
