Very nice small state park. Trails are beautiful. Would have given 5 stars but several of the small footbridges across creeks are in need of major repair.

No hiking trails open. Construction This would of been nice to know before walking all over the place to find open trail. Last trail we came to by cabins had details. Hope to come back in future to see it.

Great campground in mid Ohio. Nature Center, playground, trails and more. Volunteers serve up a donation based breakfast the 1st weekend of the month. Newer showerhouse, bathrooms and laundry area. Handicapped camping spots available. Lots of trees. A must campground to visit.

    Lake was gone 🤔
But, very nice and new bathrooms and showers! Sites we're large and new hook-ups. The front desk lady was very nice to us and allowed us to find our own site to our liking. Love staying at state parks!!!

It has brand new, as of Summer 2017, showers and bathrooms with a laundry facility. The campsites are very small for a Ohio State Park. Many of the sites are under a cover of trees, but most of them are sappy pines that bring a LOT of bugs. The dam and lake are under construction as of Summer 2017 and are currently unavailable for recreation at all including many of the trails. They are expected to be open for activities Fall 2017. Lots of other recreational amenities to enjoy though for the whole family.

Mt. Gilead State Park is one of the less trafficked state parks near Central Ohio. It lacks Hocking Hills amazing scenery, but it also doesn't have the crowds of visitors! You can get that "away from it all" feeling here while getting some good hiking. They always seem to be doing construction/improvements here, but it doesn't detract from the majority of the park experience.

So compact! Loved being able to park car and not be walking miles to facilities. Was surprised at amenities they offer for smaller state Park. Working on trails, damage? When I was there.

Recent renovations are great! Upper and lower lakes still under construction til 2017. New bathroom facilities are very nice. Playground could use an upgrade. Great hiking trails!

This is a small park 6 miles off the interstate. It is set among tall pine trees, with trails leading to a natural lake. Apparently one can boat there but not swim. The RV and Camping spaces are nice, with clean and well maintained restrooms and showers. They have concrete patios in addition to picnic tables and grills; some have wooden decks overlooking the lake below. There are playground facilities, a shuffle board and Frisbee golf course. I only stayed there overnight on a long road trip, so did not use all facilities, but everything seemed very nice. One annoyance … the office is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. You can self-check-in on those days, but I prefer personal contact with staff.
