  We have a place in Breck and enjoy both the summers and winters. We enjoy many summer activities, but this is definitely one one of my favorites because of Mountain High Rentals. If you are looking for a great off-road experience, I would highly recommend renting a jeep from Mountain High in Breck. What i like about it is that you can rent a jeep for the whole day for a very reasonable price. They will give you a book of trails within the area of various difficulties and you choose where you want to go and at your own pace. I have no desire for guided tours of any type. Hampton who runs the outfit is awesome, full of great recommendations and very knowledgeable about the trails and the jeeps. He is an experienced off-roader himself. I rented jeeps 3 times this summer, going to different areas each time (highly recommend the Deer Creek-St. Johns trail). It's been one of the most enjoyable summer activities we have done. It's almost impossible to find a non-guided jeep tour, certainly nothing near Breck. (We also did a non-guided jeep rental for the Alpine Loop trail out of Lake City, but this is better). If you're looking for something different, adventurous with some solitude, this is it and Mountain High does it right. Absolutely no complaints.

  Visiting from Australia and we hired a 2 door Wrangler for a day and had a great time. Well maintianed vehicle and great people to deal with. Good maps and advice on local sights were supplied. If you want to explore the sights around Breck there is no better way. Give Hampton a call for a chat and he will look after you. The hills around Breckenridge are so much fun and so beautiful and the Wrangler is the perfect car for it.

  I went off road up to a trail to the continental divide sign. I didn't think the jeep would make it. I had no problems at all going through shallow river beds and climbing up the rocky terrain. I went slow as recommended and went up with ease. The manager was super helpful with recommendations. I saw a spectacular view that I wouldn't have known about without his recommendation. Jeep was clean and worked perfectly. The price for a rental was reasonable considering no other car rental can offer cars with such clearance. When I come back in the winter, I'm totally going back to MOUNTAIN HIGH RENTAL!

  These guys are scumbags. They are going to do everything in there power to add up aditional charges. I looked at my statement and they charged me an additional $331. I had no problems with that vehicle, nothing happened the two days I had it. Total for two days 850!!, you don't even get it a full two days. Has to be back by 9pm, already overpriced, and you have to take it to the car wash. Expect to be ripped off if you use these scumbags.

  My wife and I have rented for two years in row and have had a great time each trip. Hampton has been great to deal with and very helpful. Tips on where to go, how to drive etc. The Jeeps are newer and perform great. Stick to easier rated trails if you have not off roaded before. You get to see some places and views that are terrific.

  I wouldn't even give this company 1 star, but I had to. Rented from this company, and after we washed the jeep and returned it, and made sure there was no new damage, we were notified that there was damage below the passenger door. This damage was not caused by us. Was there before we started. Didn't think much of it. Then the company tried to charge a ridiculous fee to get this repaired. Stay away from these criminals. It appears that this isn't the first time.

  Watch out! These guys will take your money fast and leave you with an old junker jeep. I was told on the phone by the owner "dont worry, we rent only clean, late model jeeps". After I signed and paid, they give me a 2005 model jeep that stalled three times before I left the Breck area! Then I have to go back and swap for another 2005 model, luckily it ran but kept popping out of reverse. not safe when you are off-road in tight spaces.
  They also charged me for a full day when I didn't pick up till after 2pm.
  
  When I dropped off the jeep, the owner was there in his Porsche 911. He asked if I was happy and I said no! Jeep is old and reverse doesn't work.I asked politely for a discount. he turned around and got in his car and drove away very rude!
  
  Over $1200 for the rental of a 11 year old vehicle I could have bought half the car for that price. very poor value. These guys need some competition from a real business. Note that their location is in the back of a hotel and not staffed. What a joke.
  
  Obviously they have no competition and I had no options due to limited time I should have driven down to Buena Vista and rented there or on turo. NEVER AGAIN!

  We own a place up in Breck and have considered renting a jeep for years. We actually have our own jeep back at home, but had decided just to rent vs. ship ours up to our place most folks read reviews before they rent from someone; I possibly would've changed my mind after reading them now in any event; we had a very good experience. One must take into account that Breck is a place that literally attracts people from all over the world; I do agree the presentation of the forms, the map, insurance options, etc. could be very challenging for some and respectfully could be improved a bit, but all in all my family had an A++ experience.

  I have to say, I was a little worried about renting here because of some of the reviews out there. However, our experience was great. Both Charles and the 2nd guy (which I think might have been his son) were great. Charles has a little bit of a sarcastic sense of humor, which I happen to love, but some probably don't like.
  
  The entire experience was top notch and there were zero issues. Everything was exactly as it was spelled out - no surprises at all and there were no issues with billing or extra charges or anything. Cost was exactly what they said.
  
  I am not one to usually take time to write reviews, but in this case I felt I needed to give my review to offset some of the negative ones.
  
  BTW - the Jeep ride itself was amazing. Was really, really fun and got to see parts of the area that you otherwise couldn't see.
  
  For sure carve out the entire day - because some of the trails can take several hoursyou get the Jeep for the entire day - might as well make the most of it.

  My only regret renting with Mountain High Rentals was not getting there at 8AM so that we could enjoy the whole day. We walked up at 10:30 and fortunately they still had a Wrangler. I recommend making reservations in advance to ensure you get a vehicle for the day you'd like it.
  
  Charles was friendly and easy to work with. He explained everything thoroughly. We inspected the vehicle, his son explained the drive system and we were off.
  
  We drove one challenging trail up to Georgia Pass then the easier trail down he other side. Then we came back to Breck via the Boreas Pass and got as far as we could up Peak 10 before the snow stopped us at the timberline.
  
  We washed the Jeep that night and returned it with a full tank of gas. I've got no issue with having to wash the vehicle before returning it - I'm sure it helps to keep the cost down for servicing / renting these specialty vehicles.
  
  Will certainly call on Mountain High Rentals next time we're here in Summit County.
