Prices are a little high in the store. Watch out for coupons, it will be worth it!

My pregnant wife and I had been to and purchased things from this Charlottesville store but recently had one of the worst retail experiences ever. Take your money elsewhere and support a place that cares about their customers.

The associate working, Miranda, claimed to be a manager was very aloof and barely acknowledged our existence. When we approached her, it was obvious we were bothering her. We had a simple exchange for a pair of pants (with a hole in them) for the exact same pair (with receipts less than 10 days old). Miranda not only made every attempt not to exchange the pants, she rolled her eyes at us during our explanation about our previous purchase and just simply refused, citing policy for an item mismatch on our receipt.

We found the exact same pair of pants on the shelf for her, had her acknowledge that they are the same pair/style/size/etc, showed the second pair of pants purchased at the same time (wife was wearing) and suggested she use the tag on the new pair to make the exchange; she refused. I then suggested she simply "make the customer happy since we likely will return to the store to buy more later" and she rudely raised her voice at us saying I CAN'T DO AN EXCHANGE! Apparently, the other manager made some mistake in how she recorded the sale on the receipt and Miranda claimed that was "her problem" and that we could "talk to her" if we wanted. She then stood at the register, acting like she was doing something, ignoring us and saying nothing. Finally, we had had enough and told her, JUST GIVE US THE PANTS WE PURCHASED BACK. She then told us to "GET OUT OF MY STORE" (as if we were planning to stay and take her abuse, or ever come back for more). We took the flawed pants and left. A $30 lesson for us and the other customers in the store that witnessed her behavior.

Lesson #1 for Miranda In retail it is important to find a way to help the customer and keep them happy. Without them you won't have YOUR STORE for very long. Hope you find a job you enjoy one day. What's worse, these are pregnant couples that are excited about their journey. Why would you, working in a maternity store, do anything to ruin the maternity experience. Just doesn't make sense and is inexcusable.

I have to take a moment and sing the praises of a particular employee at this location. Lisa was AMAZING from the moment I stepped into the store. She clearly had a ton to get done, (they just got a huge shipment in) but was super friendly and informative when I came in and regularly (but unobtrusively) offered to help me find things I needed, even sorting through her new shipment for a size I couldn't find. I later returned with my receipt and a coupon I thought I'd try and get credit from, but the computer didn't accept it. Rather than saying "sorry, can't use it," she then made 2 phone calls and spent over 30 minutes trying to get the coupon to work for me. She really went above and beyond, especially knowing how busy she already was. GO LISA!

As for the store itself, it's very quiet and rarely crowded, which is nice. The regular prices are a bit high (as with ALL maternity clothes) but their sale prices are pretty good, especially their latest BOGO 1/2 off or free, which is why I came in. Good place.
