Front desk was very friendly on check in, check out team not too talkative. Room was clean, no complaints. Bed was OK, not the greatest, but not bad either (a speck on the firm side) No tissues or shampoo in room. Requested lower floor which was granted, requested extra pillows which was ignored. Door to room 210 you needed to slam in order for it to shut properly. Curtains allow a lot of light from the outside hall lights into the room so its never dark. Microwave and fridge both in clean. Shower had plenty of hot water and water pressure. Plenty of parking out front, but where our room was out back it was full. Good value for a quick sleep and shower.
We've been traveling between CT and NC this past year as our CT house sold and our NC home was purchased. We have stayed in many Motel 6s between CT and NC and this Groton Motel 6 is the best yet. The renovation was well done, the indoor pool as pleasant surprise despite the fact that we were unprepared to use it. Cudos to the Groton Motel 6 owners and managers. We'll be back.
Our stay was not horrible. The room was clean “enough”. The pros are friendly staff, great price, centrally located. The cons are that the bed we had creaked and groaned whenever we turned it also had a dip in the middle so my husband and I rolled into the hole each night and ended up sleeping on-top of each other in a tangled mess. I was a bit surprised that they do not offer a microwave or at least a way to get hot water for tea and such at the end of the day. The pool was very cold even though it was heated. All that being said it was not horrible but not a great experience either.
Your Standard Motel six, with a nice pool and ok size rooms. The place was a little dated but in overall good shape. The service was professional and polite. Parking lot was a little small for the building but it looked like occupancy was low that day. Pets are accepted. The only issue I had was the price it was about 50% more than the standard rate.
Very poor I would never stay here again. I would sleep in my car. Rooms dirty hair in beds and all over floors mind you we got switched to three rooms. Manger told use room would be cleaned we get back at 1am after Foxwoods to find hair in shower in the same spots. Got switched to another room and it was even worse. Lady on nights told us manger would be there in the am we went in the am no manger. The guy said to use he finds it hard to believe what we were saying. I told him follow me you punk and I will show you. We got our money back. Stay away even if your looking for a quick piece find some woods they be cleaner.
Even though we were in a non-smoking room, all of the sheets had burn holes in them. The bathroom sink would still have hair in it after the room had been cleaned, as well as the bathroom floor. The main floor was laminate, and would feel gritty when walked upon barefoot. The neighboring room had a dog that barked shrilly, even late at night. The first night there, there were people yelling and talking loudly until after 3 in the morning. There was no shampoo, conditioner, pen, paper, and other basic items that every hotel I've ever stayed in before had.
Quiet, clean, everything I needed. I got an ironing board, by calling the front desk, and they delivered it, with an iron of course, immediately to my room.
NOT fancy, no frills, no pictures on the wall, no continental breakfast. (There is a fridge in the room so I bought milk and cereal at the outset and had that for breakfast every day. There is free coffee in the lobby.) Just a great value. Conveniently located (I needed to go to New London, Norwich, Gales Ferry and Preston a lot).
Overall, it was a pleasant experience. Very spacious rooms and friendly staff. Easy to get to. Close to wherever we wanted to travel to. Although not a criticism, they did advertise a continental breakfast, but there was nothing to be found other than coffee. I would stay there again. Pleasant enough, with beautiful surrounding areas nearby. Thank you.
I use motel 6 all the time while traveling the states. Some are good and others are great. Many of the refreshed ones are the best. This one is an updated motel. That being said, it was not cleaned before we checked in. Beds were made and towels were stocked. However that is all. The shower had a used wash rag hanging it it with a used bar of soap. The toilet also needed to be flushed. Nice right. The manager needs to nail the basics and this location would be great.
Motel 6. Ahhh what to say. It's nothing over exaggerated it's what it is. Cheap and economical this one has been redone with those fancy laminated wood floors new sheets and s more modern look. They allow pets so that's always a bonus. For the price you really can't beat it. Our room was clean, no frill check in, beds were nice. Simple and effective.
Mostly a lovely experience. The staff was the best part. They were kind and friendly and addressed any issue we had.
I had a nose bleed and the man at the front desk came to our room personally to give us a new pillow. The room service/maid was a kindly woman. She made sure we had everything we needed.
The only really awful thing was the noise. There was construction on the room above us and it was far too noisy. The pool was horridly kempt. The room was not warm and neither was the water. It was no where near eighty degrees. The bathrooms in there were disgusting. And the urinal was backed up, for god knows how long. There were ants floating in the water. The ceiling tiles need to all be changed. Awful experience in that room.
Overall, I would stay again. The five days went by fast. Just avoid the pool.
My sister and I chose this motel for it's location near Casino. Very reasonably priced and pet friendly. We were not disappointed. The room was very clean, beds were comfortable. The desk person, Debbie, was very friendly and helpful. We appreciated her cheerful attitude. We would definitely consider staying here in the future.
The location was excellent for our needs as we traveled in the Groton, CT and surrounding areas. It is quiet and provided a very relaxing stay. Hotel personnel are friendly and accommodating. They strive to meet all needs.
The room was absolutely adorable! The decor was unique, tasteful and immaculate. It was one of the quietest hotel rooms I've ever had. The location was perfectly suitable to events and places we were going to.
The atmosphere of the hotel is warm, friendly and quirky.
Highly recommend the hotel.
