Metzger's is always a solid experience. Really good food with a great atmosphere. I've talked to several German natives who have eaten there and they were thoroughly satisfied. Can't get a much better recommendation than that. May not be everyone's cup of tea, but if you like German food and drinks, it's pretty hard to beat. It's a long-time institution in Ann Arbor - for good reason!

This place was awesome and the food was to die for! The portion sizes are European and not American so do not expect to get a boat load of food but the food you do get will be delicious! They are very proud to be family owned and it shows. Even though I arrived at a very busy time in there was a small table that they are able to get me and I had a more than in joy able experience. My waitress Kayla Was very polite even when I was being that difficult customer trying to order in German without asking if she knew any at all. All the other guests were either families or great friends. Even the bartenders were saying hello to people they knew as they walked in the door. And I mean by name not just a standard greeting. I live about 4 hours away from here so I will not be a regular but anytime I am remotely close to the area I will definitely be returning!

Decent food, decent beer. Not the level of quality to the cuisine I'm used to, but fairly authentic. The atmosphere is downright awesome. The clocks, to the pictures, to the decorations. Service quality is fairly standard, plenty of seating.

First time at Metzger's . We were seated and received beverages promptly. This was restaurant is raved about, my family decided to go for a birthday dinner celebration. Disappointed in the flavoring, very bland and pretty much tasteless. Reminded us of what we have heard about 'institutional' or nursing home taste. Won't be going back. Two stars for the waitress.

Went there two nights in a row. First night waited 15 minutes at the bar before I was served. A water! Waited another 10 minutes to get served. Two ladies next to me saw my frustration and said the service really isn’t so bad but the food would be worth it. Food was great as was the beer. Went back second night to see if anything changessat at bar for 10 minutes before I got a beer. A good 10 minutes passed and I left in frustration. So wanted it to be good because of how great people say it is. Disappointed

Good food, Excellent service, very nice decor. First time to visit this place today. Having lived in Germany for several years and enjoyed German food, it was a pleasant surprise to eat at Metzgers right here in Ann Arbor. Had a Zigeuner type Schnitzel with sauteed Onions and Mushrooms on top. Side dish of Beet salad and Potatoes. Food was quite good. Place was packed and if you ignore the 'strip mall' outside, once you get inside it has a European feel to it. Well done. Very friendly and attentive service.

My wife and I have not been to Metzgers in years. We stopped in Saturday night and were blown away with attentive service and an outstanding Walleye dinner. Restaurant was packed and every table was getting great service and fabulous entrees. A real Ann Arbor area gem!

My husbands grandmother was German and he loved her cooking. Being Mexican myself I can not replicate the food of his childhood. It was nice to find a restaurant that came close.

Tried it when visiting for work and couldn't wait to come back. The second time was as good as the first. The service was a little slow but every other thing was great! Great food! Great beer! Great atmosphere!

A favorite for German food and drinks. Moved out of downtown Ann Arbor where you could never find a place to park. Now on Zeeb Road right off I 94. Highly recommend.
Another great lunch today. Perch lightly battered and Schnitzel. Both wonderful. Great service, she had worked there 20 years.response / report this review -

Great service and food. Wish the restaurant was bigger. We always feel cramped. Not a lot of room to move or for servers to get around.

Your waitress helped teach me what sowerbroten (?) was and the German potato salad , it was just like my grandmothers.

Didn't know what to expect as I'm from out if town. Wow, what a meal and crazy huge portions. I had the mushroom schnitzel and it was incredible. The cheesecake was ridiculous too. One of the best meals I've had in Ann Arbor.

Amazing food and atmosphere! Their specials are great as is their service! They have a wide variety of German food and a wide variety of food that isn't German, along with a great kids menu!
