MATES is a directly funded independent charter school and operates as a California Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation. MATES operates autonomously from the Conejo Valley Unified School District but does receive supervisory oversight from its authorizer, the Ventura County Board of Education. MATES is governed by acorporate Board of Directors in accordance with its adopted corporate bylaws.

MATES Community and Friends! We need your help! You may know we are hoping to embark on the groundbreaking of our Outdoor Classroom this summer, and we are looking for landscaping businesses to please consider working with us on this exciting project! We are open to starting discussions with landscapers or contractors in the Ventura County area. It would be an amazing project to help our school fulfill it's capital campaign project we kicked off last year with our Ten Year Anniversary, and be finished in time to start the 2019-20 school year for our students with a wonderful outdoor space for them to learn.
