Description

McMasters Physical Therapy is a privately owned outpatient company that has clinics in Conway, Greenbrier, and Vilonia. We offer physical therapy and occupational therapy with facilities and staff that have a lot to offer for the care of our patients.

Our therapists focus on individualized care with a hands-on approach emphasizing manual therapy and skilled therapeutic exercise and neuromuscular reeducation. We have a physical therapist who is Manual Therapy Certified (MTC). This therapist has completed extensive training in the assessment and treatment of orthopedic conditions affecting the spine and extremities.

We also staff an occupational therapist, Belinda Greer, who is a Certified Hand Specialist (CHS). Belinda is considered an expert in the assessment and treatment of conditions related to the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, and finger. This certification requires many years of experience and training in the fabrication of custom splints, bracing, and orthoses, and a thorough knowledge of rehab protocols for UE dysfunction.

AQUATICS PROGRAM
We offer an aquatics program at our Conway clinic where we perform one-on-one therapy in a heated indoor pool. This is where patients will get skilled care by a therapist to address their condition. For people that deal with fibromyalgia, arthritis, back pain, chronic pain, or general deconditioning this is an excellent environment to improve overall fitness, strength, and range of motion with low to no impact. There are 3 major reasons why water therapy is beneficial- buoyancy, hydrostatic pressure, and warm water temperatures. Our body's buoyancy in the water helps to reduce the gravitational forces that normally impact us. This facilitates exercise at an earlier stage post surgery or injury that would normally not be tolerable on land, which can improve a patients overall outcome or provide relief that just isn't possible otherwise. Hydrostatic pressure (the force the water exerts on the body) is beneficial for reduction of swelling and also improves exercise tolerance for people who have hypertension (high blood pressure). With regards to swelling, the water in effect "pushes" the swelling up towards our heart which is the direction is needs to go to be eliminated. The hydrostatic pressure also facilitates dilation of our arteries, which then decreases the persons blood pressure. The warm water temperatures reduce muscle guarding, which gives the patient a relaxation feeling, improves range of motion, and reduces pain.

We also offer an arthritis class that is led by an instructor Mon/Tues/Thurs 10:00-11:00am for $35/month. Whether you come to class 3 days a week, or 1 time a month the price is the same.

STEP UP PROGRAM
Any patients who receive therapy at our clinics have the option to participate in this program after the completion of their therapy. It is $25/month for the patient to have access to our facility during operating hours. This allows the pateint to continue their home exercise program to maintain, and continue to improve upon, the gains they have made during their therapy.

PILATES EQUIPMENT
This equipment operates with specialized spring-loaded resistance that can be used for various purposes. Two of our most popular uses is for core strengthening and spinal stabilization, although it can be used for various therapeutic exercises for the whole body.
