We have been doing business with McClure Realty for over 30 years. They have always been professional, personable and extremely efficient. We appreciate their attention to our renters' needs as well as ours as owners. Highly recommend.

We had an AWESOME week at 345 East 1st Street, Ocean Isle Beach, NC. The house is in a perfect location. Even though it is not oceanfront, you can see and hear the waves from the front top porch. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need to fix your meals. The swimming pool is large enough for several people to have floats, and being able to have it heated was great ( the first day it was a little too chilly). The oven didn't work, but it was repaired as soon as the part arrived. The beds were very comfortable and there was plenty of room for our family of 15. We really enjoyed the ability to be able to bring our four legged family also. The elevator is a great access also for all of us aging family members and my wheelchair bound son. It is a little small for the wheelchair, but we took off the leg support and got it to work. The top floor bedroom has a handicap accessible shower, but the door is not wide enough for a wheelchair, but the handicap accessible bedroom on the second does. When I had to contact the McClure office about the oven not working, the staff were very friendly and sent a repairman out within an hour. As I said in the first line. Our week was AWESOME and can't wait until we can come to Ocean Isle Beach again. I wish I could own a house here. The beach is wonderful.

We have been utilizing McClure's services for two years now. Everyone at the office is very professional and always quick to respond. Because we don't live on the island it's important to us to have someone there to look after our condo. They make sure that our condo is carefully cleaned and ready for each use. They also handle any problems that may come up during a renters stay and make every effort to insure that our renters have a stress free and enjoyable vacation. We appreciate their efforts and highly recommend McClure Realty.

The One positive is the house is pet friendly.
I had to do a light cleaning before I would take my things in. This week I have cleaned in places that haven't been cleaned in months. In my opinion this rental needs to be thoroughly cleaned at least once a season. Additionally there is a wasp nest under the deck and sometimes at least 5 wasps flying around.

Checked in on Saturday found a bedroom door bashed in with blood on 2 different bedroom doors and blood on the master bedroom comforter. Coffee maker had not been cleaned and was still loaded with coffee grinds and two frying pans still containing leftover residue from cooking. Several dirty utensils were in the drawer as well. The patio area downstairs was covered with busted water balloons so we had to spend the better part of the evening picking them up so that our lab didn't ingest and choke on them. I contacted McClure and they did send someone out to address some of the issues the following day. Yesterday we noticed a flea infestation. So on my vacation my husband and I had to spend the better part of the evening following what our vet had suggested. This included vacuuming all the carpets and rugs then emptying the canister out in the street. Followed by sterilizing the canister to avoid bringing any fleas back into the house. Then we had to wash all the comforters in hot water and dry them on high heat. I had to make a special trip to pick up Frontline Plus and Capstar per the vet's advice so that we do not carry the fleas back to our home. I know some vacation right? I called McClure this morning to let them know about the flea infestation and the only person that I could reach to talk to me about this situation was head of housekeeping. She told me that they spray once a month for fleas and figured everything I did last night should have gotten rid of them. She did offer to come spray but I did not want chemicals around my dog and small children. I asked to speak to a manager and I was told he would not be available to speak to me until Saturday! We have loved renting this house in the past but it seems since McClure took over the property, it has not been well kept. So much for a relaxing week at Ocean Isle Beach with my family, hopefully we can make the last two days somewhat enjoyable. Fingers crossed!

Rental condo was filthy upon arrival. Our showers were filthy and we had to clean them ourselves after a 15 hour drive. The unit we rented was not maintained properly and was photographed artfully to as not to show how run-down it was. The description of the rental boasted a private elevator, but the foyer for it was filthy, with piles of sand, mold, and peeling wallpaper. The elevator itself was frightening. The gate to close the elevator was rusty and had seen better days. I am not a religious person by any means, but it took five Hail Marys to get from the ground level to our condo on the third floor. I don't believe the elevator was serviced or renovated since the building was constructed. The tile on the floor of the elevator was also cracked and dirty. The pillows for the beds were in horrible shape and were flat and very stained, and many if not most of the pots and pans were scratched and rusty. There was a trash compactor that was apparently for display purposes only. It clearly broke and the owners did not feel the need to remove or replace it. The vertical blinds in the unit were broken, and someone thoughtfully stashed the blinds that had fallen down in various interesting locations in empty cabinets, next to the fridge in the kitchen, etc The pub table outside was missing a chair, and no one had bothered to sweep the patio in quite awhile, as a great deal of sand had accumulated there. We also found items left behind by the previous tenants a watch and cell phone charger on the bed, and a nerf football in the corner of the balcony. I'm not sure why those items were left behind for us to find and not taken to the rental company by the person who "inspected" it for cleanliness before we arrived.

McClure Realty was contacted, and they agreed that we should not have to pay for departure maid service, as the unit was not cleaned properly for our arrival. They, however, did not offer to send someone to actually clean the unit for us, nor did they address any of our other issues during our brief stay. They said it was their policy not to replace items like bedding or pots and pans (every other rental agency I've ever dealt with has done this). They did not even offer to have someone come out and fix our blinds, or contact the owner to ask if the issues could be addressed. We understand that roaches are a part of life down south, but the last straw was finding one on its back in the living room. We looked online and found a beautiful property available in Oak Island, packed our things, and left the very same day. Our new rental company is fantastic, and our new home is clean and beautiful. McClure Realty is not service-oriented, and I would never recommend them to anyone. If you are vacationing in Ocean Isle Beach, use another rental company or rent privately.
