I always try to get an Italian beef any time I'm in Chicago. Max's just happened to be the closet place that popped up on Yelp around Millennium Park. I really enjoyed Max's Italian beef; It was reasonably priced and a good size. The bread wasn't quite as soaked as I would have liked and had some dry spots but otherwise it was very good. The beef definitely had a more peppery spice than other's I've had and I liked it. Take my opinion with a grain of salt as I don't have years of Italian beef eating experience but personally I though it was for the most part great.

Really great burger. Must eat the burger while it is really hot. Otherwise it wouldn't taste that good.

Hole in the wall joint very busy the staff is nice the price is good and the hot dogs are too. I would recommend this place for a quick lunch close to some fun things in town.

Tasty, quick, no frills, not overpriced. A good Chicago dog.

Good, little place to try authentic Chicago hot dogs. Personally I enjoyed their awesome home-made french fries more than the hot dog, but the hot-dog did have all the toppings.

Great burger and hot dog spot. Always busy and well priced. Service is fast and quality. Great " greasy dinner " feel.

Now that's a hot dog! Authentic greasy spoon ambiance w/authentic Chicago workers and a great dog for essentially peanuts, considering the high rent location in the loop. How do they make that relish glow so green?! Science should study that stuff...

Yummy!! I ordered the gyro and my husband ordered the Italian beef. No frills place but the food is on point. Would definitely recommend it if you're in the area looking for good inexpensive eats.

Place is narrow, and so you might not have a spot to sit-in and eat if it's cold outside. I had the jumbo hotdog and it was pretty good. Staff was accommodating because we kept adding to our initial order. They're very nice.

On the outside the place doesn't look very good. But the food is great and people work well and quick.

Burgers are amazing. Nothing else like this outside of Chicago as far as I'm concerned except for maybe In n Out. If you want to experience the American Dream through a burger then this is the best place in Chicago for it.

Been here a few times. Tried the cheeseburger special, gyros and, when I couldn't decide between the two, the gyros cheeseburger!

For the gyros, it's good. Your typical gyros sandwich. The cheeseburger meal was a decent deal and my only wish was for more soda and less ice. The gyros cheeseburger was an interesting mix - think of a bacon cheeseburger, but replace the bacon with sliced gyros meat instead.

This truly is a "hole in the wall" joint with very limited space and therefore limited seating along the wall. If you know what you want, phone or order online.
