There was someone already in my room when i got there! Bucky the whitetailed deer was a sweet greeter! Friendly and helpful staff (needed some essentials and groceries and GPS was sending me much farther). Beautiful building that needs small maintenance fixes as it is showing a bit of age, but housekeeping keeps it clean and I have stayed in much pricier private hotels that were newer, but in worse shape and not well cleaned. Love also that they don't waste packaging by out small bottles of bathing essentials that get half used or end up in a former guest's linen closet for decades. I really appreciated the whole experience and plan to return.

Beautiful view. Front desk staff was great. We had a rude waitress in the restaurant. We felt like she had a problem with the interracial marriage. She was late on on food even though we ordered before the table beside us
Then she layed the check beside my plate and not my husband's of 24 years. As if I would be paying cause I'm white. My husband is a boss for nestle. Dont judge a book by its cover. I'm just an asst.mgr for a dollar general.

3rd consecutive year for Thanksgiving buffet, have also done mothers day and Easter in the past as near wife's family home. Amenities include a large hotel type lodge with resturants and bar, multiple family lodges, and full hookup camping areas. Sited on Lake Erie it has a large beach area as well as trails through natural grasslands. In addition it has a 18 hole golf course. Ideal for a large conference or family get away.

We visited in a fall day. It is beautiful. I'm taking a star away because the flag in front of the park office needs attention. It was half down on a very blessed peaceful day. I would have fixed it if I could.

The only reason I didn't give it a 5 this time beds were not made, I've never not had the beds not made. Food was very good but service was slow. But we will be back.

This state park is lovely. I have grown up coming here with my family. Then bringing my own kids. We swim on the lake side. There is a inland area that you can swim, kayak etc They have changing areas and bathrooms all there by the water.

There is a handicap accessible boardwalk. Can stroll through nature seeing all manner of animals. I've seen deer, beaver and others. Plenty for birders also. The boardwalk trail head is located by the nature center. Here there is a ranger that can answer questions. Wonderful displays of local nature.

You will love this place. Bike trails, board walk, golf, two beaches and views of Lake Erie. That barely touches on things to do there. The fun is endless. A great place for the family and people of all ages

Beautiful State park on the lake. Lots of things for families to do together or on their own. The Nature center was the most unique activity I have seen at a state park right next to the Lodge. Bikes you can rent. Swimming, campfires, little ones climb and play area, great food and the views!

We have been staying here for the past 10 years when we have our Ladies Retreat for our church. Everyone is always so nice and they take such great care of us. The rooms are always clean, the food is great, and the staff have always helped in any way they could. The trails are beautiful and you get to see God's creation up close.

Wonderful place to stay and take the family all year round. Beaches are well maintained as are the paths and board walk. The nature center is a great educational stop for all ages. The lodge rooms are well kept and the cabins are great for large parties. The marina is some what small but serves its purpose. The indoor and outdoor pools are nice and usually not crowded.

Beautiful State park. We stay here often in the spring and summer. Great place to stay during Spring Migration of birds. Perfect location to stay during the Biggest Week of American Birding. Picturesque location on Lake Erie. Love the Nature Center and boardwalk thru the marsh! Excellent meals at the Lodge!

Great place it stay a couple nights, the pool and splash pad where a huge hit with the kids. You are not too far from Toledo so there are a lot of options for going out and doing things during the day. The base pricing of rooms is a bit high but if you look around you can normally find a good deal which makes it very affordable.

It was honestly kinda disappointing. I love nature, and I love the great lakes, but this was the single worst Great Lakes beach I have ever been to. It was not over littered, nor was it overcrowded, and I did only go to the lakefront and use no other amenities, I really can't describe it but when I go to other Great Lake beaches, I feel like I am at the ocean, all I see is water in one direction as far as the eye can see, but instead, I only see the coast, and left side of me ( as I look out) is a jetty off the bay (looking a lot like the rest of Michigan/Ohio/Indiana/Illinois does), in front of me, a lot of industrial places spewing out chemical waste , and on the right, a nuclear power plant. The water looked like a mix of grey, red, and brown (not good quality or clean) in an ever changing rainbow of sludge. I suppose the ride over there already put me in a weird place. Driving through the industrial side of Toledo and Oregon to get there, and seeing empty houses, followed by nice houses, nice cars, not one person outside or walking around, the whole energy in this part of the state felt very off and very sad. I know my "intuition of energy" is not a good way to base a review, because the park was free, and clean (not the water), and kept up well, but it felt very dead and very awkward there. I ended up going to the town over (somewhat depressing almost empty place) and found a private beach and that was a WAY more powerful and memorable experience that Maumee park for me. I do appreciate that the state sets up places for us to connect to nature, but this one feels like a miss for me. The cleanliness of the park, and no fee, is why I give this a 3 star instead of 1. All in all, even this experience was profound and wonderful for me because I now can re-energize that part of me that takes notice when people say "the human condition is one of industrial sadness, trying to cater to the needs of those who feel empty, and then refill their soul with material nonsense, instead of embracing, and caring for the nature and beauty of this world that nurtures us all"
