When you think of Masonic-affiliated charities that help children, the Shriners Hospitals for Children or the Scottish Rite Freemasonry's Children's Dyslexia Centers are probably the first to come to mind. However, did you know that St. Jude Children's Research Hospital was founded by a Freemason? Today's Famous Freemason Friday, actor Danny Thomas, 33°, was made a Mason at sight by the Grand Master of the The Grand Lodge of New Jersey Free & Accepted Masons, in 1984. When pe...ople asked him why he had wanted to join, he said, "because Masons care for those who cannot care for themselves." On top of founding St. Jude's and being actively involved in the Fraternity, Bro. Danny also had a successful career in the film and television industry, helping create "The Dick Van Dyke Show" and "The Andy Griffith Show," among others. He died in 1991 and is buried on the grounds of the hospital with his wife, Rose Marie. #FamousFreemasonFriday
