We got our pet cat, Cherokee, here and love him very much! The system they have set up to match you to a pet is perfect. The adoption process does take a few hours though. Overall a great experience.
The adoption process is quick and easy. And they call to check on you and your new pet with in 2 weeks to make sure everyone is adjusting ok.
This is a very family friendly establishment. Almost everyone there was warm and welcoming. It was easy to walk through and see the dogs and cats. They all seemed to be very well kept and cared for. None of the animals looked sickly as I have seen at other animal shelters. The attendants there answered any questions we had and seemed to genuinely care for their temporary fur babies.
Went to get a diffrent dog but it was already claimed. I decided to look around to see what other dogs they had available and found a beautiful Siberian Husky she was 5 years old climbed out of her bed as I knocked on her glass and she came right over to listen to what I had to say. I decided immediately that this dog was for me and my wife and I adopted her and since we adopted her we couldn't be happier. I brush her everyday and she is completely housebroken. Today she met my grandchildren as young as 2 years of age and the dog could not be more gentle to everyone. She does not jump on anyone she rarely barks and appears to be very happy with us.
God steered us in the right direction by adopting this dog. I never had one this large before in my life weighing in just a little over 64 lb. I have since taking her to a vet to have her checked out and she needs to lose as much as 5 lbs but no more. At the time I got her she has yet to display any emotion with toys but time will change. We needed a new companion in our life my wife and I and we found the perfect one thank you God.
So far I have adopted 3 cats - (2 kittens 1 adult) felines from here. Love them and the people that work here a great plus a huge help, very informative. Absolutely love my pets!! ππ
My family and I have adopted 2 dogs here so far and love the way they treat their animals it is very friendly there and the dogs are just so sweet
We adopted our new cat Hollywood from here and it was great, we've had her for about 2 days now. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I was not informed that she was recently spayed until they were letting me know that she needed her incision checked before we took her, which was scary for a first time pet owner. Also the cardboard box that she was put in to go home, she chewed right through it after about five minutes.
Sorry, I have no pictures of the facility but I do have pictures of the newly fur baby that my fiancee and I adopted from here.
Clean center, really friendly staff and fairly spacious waiting room. We were greeted with such warm hello and was also accommodated. Initially, we had no plans adopting just yet but rather volunteer but that changed almost immediately.
The facility's staff were knowledgeable and had no problem assisting us in bonding with the appropriate cat that we were looking for.
You can tell that the center takes good care of the animals. When we had taken our cat home, she had a slight cold and had some anxiety but eventually warmed up and after a recent visit from the vet, she's a healthy tortoiseshell cat.
We had no issues with adopting our cat whatsoever.
Thank you SPCA! We really appreciated every bit of advice and service! And we'll be back soon for another visit!

Great well maintained facility full of caring friendly people! They were very helpful walking us through our cat's full medical history and making recommendations on feeding and care. Our little lady's adoption fee was waived too since she was a longer term resident, plus she was already spayed and microchipped and up to date on her shots. So happy we got her! I strongly recommend the Maryland SPCA to anyone in the area who's looking for a fuzzy little companion. Adopt don't shop :)
We adopted our cats from the Maryland SPCA. The whole experience was easy and well thought out. I would recommend anyone who is thinking of getting a fur friend to visit them first. They really look after their animals, with all shots given and spayed or neutered. I could not be happier.
Very nice and clean facility, offers spay and neuter, adoption prices are excellent, staff is extremely friendly
Very friendly and dedicated staff and volunteers. If you are adopting a pet, save yourself some time and download your paperwork ahead of time and complete it at home. All of the dogs and cats appear to be very well taken care of. - Be patient. - It did take us about 2-1/2 hours total time to adopt a kitten. One hour of that time was waiting to see a counselor (you did a good job counselor Stephanie). We bought Figaro home the same day and he has adjusted very well. I do like that they try to keep bonded pairs together. I wish we could have got Figaro's brother. JULY 2017 is free cat adoptions---come on down! If you walk in--you WILL walk out with a pet!
Go ahead and give them a visit. We did not find our let there, but we explored and their advisors were great. They really cared about the animals and the fit for the family. We found our puppy from another agency, but came back to use their spay and nueter clinic. This is a great place to support.
This is one of the cleanest and modern shelter in the area. Kennels are very large and well maintained. The staff spends alot of time interacting with with the animals and comforting them. The exterior property is absolutely beautiful and tranquil with gardens and trees all around.
One of the best places in town for pets. They have a lot of pit bulls there but they all were so nice. They give an idea of temperment on a sheet on the door and allow an audition before signing any paperwork. The nice dog winter we saw that day probably has a wonderful home by now.
