Two and a half years ago Dr. Nelson performed a disectomy on my lower back. The surgery was a success, his approach and caring attitude was evident and all this time later, I would recommend his care to anybody. Why am I reviewing this now? I was recently asked about my back when I advised I had a disectomy. The person I spoke to could not believe how positive my result was...I accredited that to an excellent surgeon. Thank you Dr. Nelson for taking the time to do it right!

Excellent doc. Spend time in viewing MRI and X-ray also explaining the pros and cons and was very nice to have husband and wife present at time of the consultation. The surgery went well and he even contacted us himself for the follow up after care. Great doctor with excellent ethics.

Dr Nelson was god send, I saw him first on a Wednesday in so much pain I could not stand or walk. He made me pain free by Monday. He gave me all my options and the risks with each one and made me feel I had some control of what was happening with me. I was pretty scared going in to surgery but Mark has so much confidence in his skill that i felt I was in the best hands. All of the staff at Scripps had the up most respect for Dr N which made the whole experience that much easier!! Plus he only left a tiny scare that is only viable when you look closely. Dr Nelson is the man if you have lower back pain.

I would not recommend going to this Dr. He is arrogant and has no compassion. He minimized my complaints of pain and violated my patient rights. He did not listen at all and caused more harm than good. I am now awaiting surgery with a competent surgeon.
I wish I would never of walked into his office. He caused an inexcusable delay in getting the treatment I needed because my herniated disc did not show up on his office xrays. I had an MRI that clearly showed the problem but, he was far to righteous to view the radiologist report. I hope to save others from unnecessary suffering so I am here as an RN speaking out as a warning to others.
