I was doing a search on Google maps for something new to try and found Mara's. Normally, I want to see the menu and although they didn't have one on their website, the pictures of the food that others had posted drew me in.
When we arrived there was only one other table occupied but by the time we left several were. It is obvious that the locals know about this place and we were glad to know it now ourselves.
You can peruse a vast selection of wine that they display & are able to choose any of them to have with your dinner. Pretty fun idea.
The server was excellent and it was obvious to us that she was a professional, not just someone filling a waitressing position.
The food was exceptional and my husband and I enjoyed it all. We started with the calamari with sweet chili mayo sauce and then chose the pork chop with sweet potatoes & the sweet chili salmon with couscous. Both were cooked perfectly and each side dish complimented the meats very well.
If you are near Lima or passing through, definitely try this place. You will not be disappointed.response / report this review -

From Texas and just passing through. I gave this place 5 stars before I even tasted the food. The service and hometown feel made me think of home. Service is 2nd to none and Lima has made a new long distant resident. This is a must visit. Gary the owner operator is one of the coolest gentleman I've met in the Restuarant industry. Bring a group or a loved one and you will not leave unsatisfied.

My daughter called to order food because she has severe social anxiety and cannot function in a crowded atmosphere. Person answered phone and rudely said " we're too busy" and hung up! Terrible customer service, will spend our money elsewhere

Very comfortable dinning,not loud, friendly atmosphere and great food. Selection changes often so you won't get same meal every time. You really should make the effort to stop in.

Poor service. And very rude waitress. Waited 45 minutes for her to finally bring out the menus. She wasn't very happy when we had to bring a left over wine that was purchased at the same restaurant the day before. I would say the same thing about the owner. Spent most of his time entertaining the next table. When he finally realized we ordered dinner and another bottle of wine, he finally came to our table with a big saccharin smile! We are not from this area (NY, Wyoming and FL), and since Lima doesn't have much to offer, the least they can do is to boost up the city's image. This kind of attitude would not survive in NYC. And no, we would not be back!

Best restaurant in the area for fine dining and wine. Puts the others to shame. Filet Mignon and Shrimp Embroquettes are the best I've had, hands down.
