Description
The Manhattan Breakfast Optimist Club is a not-for-profit service organization composed of community involved men and women who have been dedicated to serving the youth of Manhattan Kansas since 1959.
Through the years, the Manhattan Breakfast Optimist Club has been involved in many youth-serving and community-oriented projects and activities. It is perhaps best known for its long-standing sponsorship of the local T-Ball program and our major fundraiser, the Optimist Christmas Tree Lot. It also has been a supporter of the Manhattan Optimist Kids Wrestling Club, the Manhattan Optimist Fastpitch Association, and many other local programs. The Club has participated in official Optimist International programs such as the Oratorical Contest, Essay Contest, Respect for Law, and Youth Appreciation, among numerous others.
Our Optimist Park facility features 3 softball fields, a T-Ball field, 2 pitching areas, 3 batting cages, as well as a maintenance garage and a building housing team storage and restroom facilities, and plenty of parking. Optimist Park is located at 317 Plymate Lane in Manhattan, Kansas.
The membership of our club represents a cross-section of the business, public, social, and cultural life of Manhattan and the surrounding area. The club is open to all adults of good character and community standing generally compatible with the membership of all Optimist clubs.
Weekly meetings occur every Wednesday morning at RC McGraws - Blue River Hills Room, located at 2315 Tuttle Creek Blvd in Manhattan. Doors open at 6 AM for coffee and socializing, breakfast buffet begins at 6:30, and a weekly program or presentation begins at 7 AM.
