My small family and I cant Thank the girls at the Highland County Humane Society enough!
My 13 year old Zaki whom we have had since a kitten, a stray we found on the road long ago starving, and barely weaned.....was run over by a neighbors truck 2 days ago and the local ""vet"" a ""dr."" Thoroman and his staff were extremely uncaring and rude when I called and asked for help. Contacted the Lynchburg Police, an officer called the Highland Co. Humane Soc. per my request and the absolutely wonderful girls SAID....Bring him in!
He is now being well cared for BY THOSE WHO HAVE a heart and a soul!! And our darling pet will meet his maker and his suffering ended quickly. I am a disabled, retired and elderly woman who has fostered and brought into my life and my home 100's!! Of pitched to the road cats, and dogs, even bunnies! AS DID My mother, grandmothers before me, and all our lives!!! And am so very blessed in finding true friends at our local Highland County, Ohio Humane Society!!
They will be forever in my prayers and as soon as I can I will give back to them a small part of what they have so freely given to me.
Rest in Peace dearest Zaki, We will see you at the Rainbow Bridge.

I have truly never seen anything like this. And I have dealt with many, MANY veterinarians from Ohio to FLA and all points between over the last 50 PLUS years. AND NEVER have I met one until now, who would not take 5 minutes to talk over concerns a neighbor and customer is dealing with, and make attempt to get us in to end my pets suffering as soon as possible. THAT "vet" and his staff were SO unprofessional. Instead of taking me and this situation aside and actually talking to me, they snickered when my daughter, myself and my 3 year old grand daughter arrived with our pet, to ASK FOR HELP and could afford to pay!!!! Yet they put US off (INSISTING NOT A MINUTE to spare until NEXT WEEK!!!) As we stood before them the man at this office surfaces and yells down the hallway to us, You WILL WAIT!!!!! And whatever other cruelties he shouted, and we quickly left.
Gesh what a heartless BUSINESS OWNER. THE Hippocratic OATH to do NO harm is today replaced with profit margins, got no time!!!! FOR people and animals in an emergency situation, when in need EVEN when you CAN pay their inflated costs.
