I’m not going to lie, when we pulled in I didn’t have high hopes of anything but fried bar food. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised! They had a large menu and the food was amazing! My husband got the Grouper Pontchartrain, he said it was the best grouper he’s ever had. And the staff was very friendly, the kids loved sitting on the patio and seeing the gators and turtles, highly recommend.
My wife and I are here for our honeymoon and really looking to have a good time. One visit to this place prevented that this evening. We called this establishment before we left the Phoenix across the street and the recording said “no reservations” no problem we look across the street, no too busy no waiting patrons out front, no problem. My wife and I walk across the street walk in and asked for a table for two. We were told it was a two and a half hour wait and they would not be taking our names or serving us due to the wait time going beyond the time they are open. This is problematic due to the fact there were zero and I mean zero people waiting to get in there and this was a good hour and ten minutes before they closed. If your cook wants to go home early, say it, don’t lie. Don’t tell me there’s a wait and there be absolutely no one waiting. It’s pathetic and shows lack of leadership inside this establishment. Want good food and nice staff? Go next door to Docs we waited 40 minutes and had a great dinner. They saved our evening.
Food was OKAY. wouldn’t come back probably there’s just so many better options to go to. The atmosphere is what I would go back for. They have a pond/swamp put back that has tons of turtles and a gator. It’s pretty neat. And then the live music is also fun.
Great food and friendly staff! You get so much food for the price. We had so much left over that we have made 2 more meals from it! The owner or manager came by our table which was a nice twist; we aren't use to that where we come from; he introduced himself and asked if we needed anything The mechanical shark was a treat to watch as customers tried to ride the shark.. We had a great time and look forward to going back!
We went there for lunch today and we’re definitely going back for dinner tonight. Super personable people excellent service incredible food. The best place on our vacation by far. The owner is very personable and will probably come by your table before you leave. We definitely give it a two thumbs up!
I love this place !!! They have the very best seafood in Orange Beach. The shrimp and red fish are my favorites. And the Greek nachos are one of the best appetizers I've ever had. Erika was our server and took great care of us. If you go to Orange Beach you have to give them a try. You won't want to go anywhere else !!!! I really can't say enough about this restaurant!!!
Great food!!! I splurged on a $30 plate of 1lb crab legs. They were good. Great atmosphere and out waiter was very attentive. I would go back here if I was in that area again.
Austin, our waiter was awesome! Because of him we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We had the grilled shrimp platter and I must say that it was delicious. And of course I had the best vodka martini ever! We definitely will be back soon.
Amazing. We sat in the tiki bar and watched the turtles and a baby gator. We were promptly served by Sienna who gave us the option of having our gator bites app blackened instead of fried. It was excellent. We had the fish of the day (res drum). I had grilled and my friend had the blackened. Both were fantastic. Highly recommend this place.
Best place to eat by far in Gulf Shores! Staff is entertaining and you feel like you're part of the family there! The manger gave the parents in our party free t shirts and gave the kids free rides on the mechanical shark. They had a live band performing and it was just such a fun atmosphere. Not to mention the food was great!! We had Austin as our server and he was the best server I have had at any restaurant I've ever been to. Definitely recommend to anyone who is in or going to Gulf Shores!!
This place was pretty good. We went about 5:45 we had 6 people and no wait. The prices were pretty comparable to other places in town. They have several choices of seafood and a different cuts of steaks. I had gator bites for an appetizer and the surf n turf (pic attached) for my meal. The food wasn't bad, but the steak could've been a little bigger. There was in door and outdoor seating. They have an outdoor bar and karaoke area as well as a mechanic shark (bull) to ride. They are located on a swamp and you can feed the Gators and turtles. You can buy the food for 25¢. Overall I would go back, but I wasn't overly impressed. They are in a good location on Perdido.
What a fun and quality place to grab a drink and/or sing Karaoke. They even have a club next door to dance and get your groove on: great music, lights, smoke machine, drinks, dance floor, pool, darts.
All the staff were super nice and helpful. Vanessa was a great DJ for Karaoke and made our first time very memorable. Erika mixed up some great drinks at the bar in the restaurant. And the bartender at The Club (didn't catch her name) created us a drink which was amazing!
Thank you JOE! for a safe ride to and form our hotel to Live Bait on the FREE Bait Bus.
Only complaint is that due to the winter season, not a lot of people showed up. Need more people and this would be even better.
Atmosphere in the restaurant was cool, our server (Kris T) was very friendly and he knew the menu/specials and could make recommendations. The food was great, good portions. My advice though, go during lunch because its cheaper (less portion), because a family of four cannot afford to eat dinner there. The dinner portion was about 15-20% more but the check more than doubled!
Have always loved this restaurant and try to eat there when we're in town, but after visiting this past trip it left a lot to be desired..
Atmosphere was great, football on the TV's, but getting a server to greet us, much less keep our drinks filled, is apparently asking too much here. Lack of proper training w/ staff obviously shows.
Patrons sitting around us were all noticing the same issue. One group of very polite folks had ordered a dozen raw oysters, after waiting close to 40 min (restaurant was nowhere close to being busy at the time) they asked the server to bring them the tickets for their drinks so they could leave and eat elsewhere. Our server ignored them completely.
Completely incompetent staff. If the manager hasn't identified this by now, I am afraid by next year's vacation Live Bait likely wont be open.
Terrible service. We went at 1:30 and waited about 40 mins. for our food. The fish and shrimp looked like they were straight out of the freezer. I ordered a burger medium well with bacon and cheese. It was medium rare with no bacon or cheese. The best part of the meal was the kids grilled cheese and fries. It was actually good. Would not recommend.
I can sum up this negative experience in two words the hostess. After walking through the door we saw the hostess to our left, who did not look away from her computer. Upon realizing that we were going to have to go 90% and hope that she made up the last 10%, we walked and stood in front of her irritated face and were greeted with, "can I help you"? We politely asked for a table for two (at 9:05 with another 55 minutes remaining in service) and she then scoffed, paused in disgust and told us to "hold on" as she went to search for the victim of this huge table. Now, I didn't get to catch her name, due to the short duration of our conversation so I know her only as the girl with the feather tattoo behind her ear. She spoke more to our server who she repeatedly apologized to for giving her our table within 20 feet and earshot of us, which didn't exactly enhance the experience. Our server at least pretended that she was being nice, but nothing that night could've made up for the distaste we had due to the hostess. We debated after being seated if we should stay or leave and definitely made the wrong choice. However, with all that being said it was a cheap price to pay to ensure that the time spent picking a restaurant next time will be that much shorter.
