Pricing was ok then I downgraded to $20/month plan (charged a $29 "downgrade fee" AND a yearly service charge of $25 for having the low price option. Terminating was a nightmare. All in all - pretty good facility Terrible customer service/billing.

Their cancellation policies are deceptive and their customer service is terrible! Find another gym because this place will screw you any chance they get! I shared a membership with my girlfriend and we broke up. I canceled my membership in Dec 2010. Her credit card continued to be charged this whole time! I called their member services number and was told she was out of luck. They said I should have gotten an email saying the membership was canceled (I did not), but even if I had that... EVEN IF I HAD PROOF IT WAS CANCELED OVER A YEAR AGO, THEY WOULD ONLY REFUND 120 DAYS WORTH!!

This is not how you treat your customers! They are the reason you're in business and you're screwing them?!? Not cool!!

I have had a great experience at LFF so far. I was welcomed by management, as well as greeted by other staff. I was not strong-armed by the sales people at all. Instead, all of my questions were answered thoroughly. The staff also remembers my name--huge plus. The group fitness class times are also well organized and cater to many different schedules. I am also pleased with the level of training the personal trainers must attain. All in all, from the amenities to the staff to the cleanliness, I am enjoying being a part of LFF.

Live in Tampa, but was in NC on business and was surprised to find that they had a LFF in NC. I have their passport membership which means I get access to all their clubs. This club is just like most of their others. All the best machines like hammer strength and lifefitness and plenty of free weights and dumbbells. Not into the classes, but did spend time on the elliptical machine for 30 min after lifting and it was in working order, but my machine had trash in the cup holders!.. Not sure about the sales people, as I signed up back home (Florida) in 2002. So, maybe they are a bit more aggressive these days. However, I have always been month to month and can cancel anytime with 30 day advanced notice. So, it makes sense if you do cancel you could get hit for another month's fee. I will say that they are not the cheapest in town where I live and probably the same in NC, but I do find you get what you pay for. So the premium has been worth it to me, plus I now take advantage of the daycare they have.

I am not one to write or say bad things about people or companies in general, but my experience with Lifestyle Family Fitness was so horrific that I feel not sharing would be wrong.

My sister and I went into LFF to check it out one day because we were in another shop in the center. We went in, got a tour, got a listing of the prices and deals, and then the salesperson gave us this big pitch about their "30 Day Comfort Guarantee".

Basically it was a guarantee that if we didn't love it or weren't planning to use it enough that we could get a full refund of any money we spent as long as we quit within 30 days. Well we figured that we had basically 30 days to try it out and if we didn't we had nothing to lose.

Well, what he didn't tell us (but what was in the stack of papers he gave us) was that the 30 day guarantee had a lot of stipulations. #1 - You had to come once a week (not including the day you signed up) and use the facility. #2 - You had to quit on the last week. #3 - Even if you did everything the right way (which I did), you were still subject to corporate approving your cancellation and that could mean you wouldn't get your money back.

Well, I did everything right and they still not only charged me everything for the first month, but everything for the second, third, and fourth months. I am praying they don't charge me again.

My sister had the same experience and could get no one at the local establishment or at corporate to help her.

I have a feeling that this is standard protocol for them.

I was signed up for them back in like a year ago and they told me that If I don't like their Gym I can get the refund within 30 days ...they were suppose to charge me $39 per month...but they charged me additional money somewhere around $150+ ..i went back and they showed me all this random fee (membership fee, per month fee, etc..) ...I went to them within 30 days to cance my membership and still they wouldn't give me any money back...I could have taken the issue to BBB but I gave up because I didn't have time to go through hassle for $150 some dollars...so beware of them...also they have very rude people working there they are not very nice...
