The park and lake have many beautiful things about it ~ the lake itself is nice and the walkways, plants and flowers are gorgeous! However the restroom building with the upper deck and lower patio plus dock are caving in and need to be replaced, weeded and have all of the trash removed in the surrounding area ~ especially the lower concrete patio. Love this park and feel it's buildings and older shelters and picnic tables need the attention they deserve.

This wonderful place has really cleaned up its grounds. I wish this place was available 24hrs a day, without need for rental units or campground passes.

Was not impressed! Not happy about having to put our tent in rocks. There was a man and a women we had to run out of the women's bath house. Too many rules about setting up camp. If I can fit more than one tent in a site without bothering neighbors I think you should be able too! There was a triathlon going on and we had trouble getting in and out of camp...plus we could not boat. NO one told us this... Paid for a camp spot that didn't get ised!

Lake Shawnee is such a Beautiful place. They have great walking trail/path that have 1/4 miles markers making it easy to track your distance. Also, they have a magnificent garden area (Ted Ensley Garden) that is great to visit, especially when the tulip's are in full bloom. There is so much more beauty that can be described about Lake Shawnee that this comment section cannot withstand it all. A must see place.

Did a bike ride all around the lake. The trail was in very good condition. There was one steep location on the south side that had a recessed drainage grate at the very bottom which caused my 5 year old to wipe out on his bike. The trail isn't too busy, and the south east side does not have much around it except for the golf course which is fenced off. The sidewalk on this side is separated from the street, 45th St, which is good because the speed limit is 45 mph. I would not ride it at night as there is not much in the way of light.

A hidden gem of Topeka. Well groomed with a nice concrete trail all the way around, but still natural. If you're there at the right time, you'll see blue heron, ducks, geese, and maybe even a bald eagle or two! Lots of playgrounds for the kids and shelterhouses for hosting parties. The Ted Ensley gardens are beautiful... a great place to propose to your girlfriend! ;)

An awesome asset to have close by. Beautiful. Good sidewalk that surround the lake. Day camping, overnight camping, golf, paddle boat rental, walking/cycling trail, ball diamonds, swimming beach, and much more to do at Lake Shawnee!

An important pillar of Topeka. Not nearly as private as any of the other lakes in the area, and just a great place to be on a beautiful day. Go walking or running on the sidewalk trails, see the magnificent flower gardens, or just take a swim or boat ride. You really can't go wrong out at Lake Shawnee.
