Love this place!! Beautiful, peaceful. A perfect get away. Large camping lots, plenty of privacy and very clean. Can't wait to go back.
I have been visiting this park for 20 plus years. Within this last year I learned that 9 trails had been added to/within the Itusi Bike trail. I have been in and completed 5 of the 9.
I am looking forward to finishing all 9 trails!
Great place to take kids or go mountain biking with a lovely visitor's center and paddle boats for rent. Much better equipped than I had expected!
This is an outstanding park to run off to at a last minute!
We have hiked here in all seasons, and of course Fall is the greatest time of the year.
The hiking trails are well kept, and easy to follow with or without a map.
So close to Charlotte - if the traffic is in your favor, its only an hour away
Come enjoy your State Park(s)!
This is a beautiful park. We took the lake shore loop trail on a gorgeous weekday morning. Hardly anyone else was there. The trail meanders thru the woods so we were in the shade but you are close enough to the lake you can enjoy the view for most of the trail.
Very nice quaint place to kayak, canoe or paddle boat. We did the paddle boat for 2 hours. An hour is plenty to paddle around the inlet. Very relaxing and peaceful.
Beautiful park with lots of trails and picnic areas to choose from. Nice visitors center where you can rent kayaks. Great views of the lake.
Nice park with an okay lake. If you're used to living on the east coast and miss the beach, its nice to come out here and be near the water. Personally, I swim in the water, but it's nice to lay out in the sand, maybe go sailing and do some fishing.
Lake Norman State Park is absolutely beautiful! There are many trails there for mountain biking and hiking. There is also a lakefront beach and swim area. Definitely a place to go if you're looking to get outside and have some fun!!
Best place for a day out picnic, hiking, biking or just wading in water. Nice place close to Charlotte. Visitor center also rents out Canoe. Good enough for day time activities only. [ DO NOT THINK TO CAMP HERE, PLEASE READ BELOW]
Although the park has a Group camping area, its not built the campers in mind. The restrooms as well as drinking tap was far away. Also the campground is not close to parking. When u have a group camp (up to 26) you have a lot of stuff and considering the distance from parking to campground.. I did not like this park at all. No showers, restrooms does not have hot water or lights even. LN needs a serious upgrades to the group camping area.
Very nice park great tent camping area with showers really walking distance to lake with hiking trails but a little hot compared to the ones in the mountains
Nice place with swimming beach in one area They charge for swimming when a life guard is on duty. They have nice hiking trails too. The campsites are good but they are down hill and a little bit of a hike from the car parking.
The Lake Norman State Park ( was The Duke Power State Park ) is a great park for hiking, swimming, trail biking, picnicking, bird watching and numerous other activities. They also have a community building that is a great place for events.
Overall a nice place and day trip for us. Ranger at the visitor center was cordial. Didn't camp, but walked through on hike and camp ground appears well kept. Facilities dated, but clean. Plenty of mountain bike trails. Look forward to coming back for an extended visit some time.
We love this park. We visit at least 2 times a month. Great hiking, even for our dogs. There are so many trails from easy to difficult. Also from .8 miles to 6 miles. If you rent canoes or paddle boards and paddle boats, the prices are very reasonable. Camping was fun too, right next to the lake. Very easy to spend hours outdoors.
