The food isn't very good. I've been here twice, and both times, left disappointed. I got a chimichanga, and it came out covered in this gross, thin, runny, fake cheese sauce. The chicken inside was really salty. A burrito was swamped in a thin tomato sauce that had no spice or flavor. Once again, the chicken inside was way too salty.
These foods are not spiced properly, and do not reflect Mexican or Tex-Mex cuisine one bit. If you're the type who thinks ketchup is spicy, you might think its fine. If you want authentic, don't look for it here.
That said, the atmosphere is nice enough, and the staff are polite and attentive. They have a full bar, and it might be a good place to come in and get a drink. Prices are fair.response / report this review -

My wife is from Texas and therefore a Mexican food snob. If she thinks the food is great, then it really is. Both of our meals were fantastic and the service was quick. Prices were very reasonable.

I love La Patrota Grill this was the best experience in a Mexican restaurant ever. May sure you try the fried ice cream. I make sure I bring my friends and family back next time.

Really enjoyed this dining experience. I had the combination enchiladas and my wife had the combination fajitas. The food was delicious. Service was quick, courteous and very friendly. I definitely recommend you try it. Definitely will come back here again. Probably my best experience at a Mexican Restaurant. Great food, great service and reasonably priced.

What happened to this place? I grew up in Farmville and La Parota was the best restaurant in town. Food was quick, the chip basket never emptied, and the server was always checking in. Came in today and after 45 minutes I still don't have my food. It was hard to find the waitress to replace the chips when they ran out during our unbelievably long wait for Mexican food. It's not like Mexican food takes forever to prepair it's all the same stuff mixed differently. I'm incredibly dissapointed because I was looking forward to coming back here to eat as it was my favorite restaurant growing up.

The food is great, staff is friendly, clean bathrooms. However, because of the college this place is slam packed on fri,sat, and sun nights. We waited an hour for a table last time. They also do not take reservations.
