Went earlier so was seated fast and had good service. They offer military discount which is always nice.

Amazing food, great show and an actual kids menu for our picky the year old. :) Everyone left with full bellies and smiles on our faces. Definitely will be back.

My wife and I have been eating at kotos for almost 10 years and normally I would give a 5 star rating However, tonight warrants a lesser rating. I knew it would be be close to closing time, so I called ahead to verify their closing time and was told it was 9:30. We arrived approx. 15 minutes before and walked in.. The waitress went to seat us and the guy, I'm assuming her manager, stopped her and told her no.. That they were closed. She had a awkward look on her face as he told us that they close at 9:15 It seemed to be new information to her. I could tell that the waitress was embarrassed over it.
Also, the last time we were there, we asked for our sushi wrapped in soy paper rather than rice, due to dietary restrictions. Because of this we were made fun of by a couple of the employees.

Kotos is great! We always receive emacculate service and our food is delicious! Even our kids love it there! It's like an adventure every time we go!

A very poor diming experience, the servers were all rude and basically ignored us. The food was cold when it reached our table i asked the server if she could heat it up she said yes brought it back and it was still cold. I was very displeased with my dining experience. To anyone driving by on the interstate and is contemplating dining here dont. I am a local and i wont be eating here again.

I love Kotos. The servers are always friendly and do their job very well. My family and I enjoy spending time at their Hibachi grill and the food is delicious! Last visit I saw a very rude customer act out and "Ria", I do believe her name was, still served him in an appropriate, kind manner.

I'd give negative stars if I could. Don't waste your time. The place stinks something awful, the food is beyond nasty, and the service is slower than molasses going uphill in February.

We were excited to discover that Richmond now has a Japanese Steakhouse, however we don't plan on going back. It is one step up from the Japanese Steakhouse in Corbin, in that it actually has the Hibachi grills. The food was actually pretty good, for the most part, just certain nuances were a turn off. Here are a few examples.
One of the best parts of going to a J/S is the Yum-yum sauce (the off white sauce they serve in little trays) was water down and salty as hell (THAT'S A HUGE NO-NO TO ME). During their "show", the chef usually cooks up some shrimp and tosses it into your mouththis place used bits of egg instead (WTF?). They also typically squirt sake into your mouth toobut that didn't happen (not that the alcohol isn't a necessity, but still). My steak was cooked perfectly (medium rare), but the wife's steak was cooked medium when it was supposed to be well-done & her lobster was served in huge chunks rather than the bite sized portions it's supposed to be. The mushroom soup they serve before dinner was lukewarm and the salad was swimming in a soupy ginger dressing, rather than the thick, pasty that the dressing is supposed to be.
As far as service goes, we were seated right away. Walking in, I noticed 2 habachi tables were about 2/3 full, but no one cooking yet at either. We sat down at the table and a minute later here comes the cook!! WTF? The cook looks confused, trying to figure out why he has more people at the table than are on his piece of paper. The waiter runs up to us and apologizes, stating that "the people up front don't know what they're doing". He quickly gets us our drinks and our soup & salad (described above). As our drinks are being served, the table in the other room is getting started with an half empty tableso basically, rather pacing things out and seating people accordinglythis place was a huge mess. I've never seen two grills getting fired up at the same time (ours would've started at the same time if we hadn't been thrown in the mix very last minute). I will say though, the waiter was awesome. He stayed on job, checking on us properly.
Overall, just a lousy experience. We'd rather drive the extra 20 minutes and go to our favorite J/S in Lexington. (As other reviews have said, I'm forced to leave at least one star)response / report this review -

The food was definitely delicious! I loved the cook who made our meals right in front of us but the ONLY thing I did not enjoy was the EXTREMELY rude waitress.
First I asked for a coke. (Unknowingly that they sold Pepsi products) she assumed Pepsi was okay without even asking me.
Second when it was time for the check I was getting my money ready and she RUSHED me while I was trying to pay, and I quote, "are you ready to leave? We are closing. I have worked a long shift without any breaks."
Third I paid with a 50.00 and my change was a little under 10 dollars. She never came back with my change. AT ALL.
When I politely ask for my change, she goes "No tip?" In a VERY smart tone. Even though I did leave a tip on the table when I got up to ask for my change.
Sorry, I will be back but I did not leave a happy costumer.response / report this review
