We took a road trip on a cold winter day, and found a warm and friendly staff waiting for us at this great car museum. Not only is it rich in local automotive history, but they have a nice variety of all American cars arranged chronologically. My only regret is that it’s so far away from home.
We had a great time on our visit recently. The receptionist was very pleasant and told us about the history of the facility and the early days of automobile production in Kokomo. There are lots of beautifully restored old cars and the area is clean and well lighted. There are also several displays related to other aspects of automotive history. Jay Leno visited a few years ago and you can find his autograph on one of the support columns. We were just passing through and were looking for something to do for a couple of hours and were very glad that we stopped. I've posted several pictures from our visit, also.
The day I visited here only 2 other touring in the museum.
I must admit I hadn't even known a lot of these small local manufacturers of the early automobiles even existed, so it was a great to view and take such a detailed look (and yes, they welcome you to enjoy your cameras and take photos of the vehicles too).
Guide at reception is very knowledgeable about the museum
Awesome collection, not the most I have ever seen, but a ton of variety!
Nice to find a antique car museum with scene sets from the past
Very interesting to see all these old cars
Huge place well worth visiting.
We tried to visit with out-of-town relatives and found the museum closed, although the website said it would be open. Don't trust the information on the website - be sure to call ahead first!
Worth the visit and price. Large collection.
