This place is still open. Run by someone else. It shouldn't say "permanently closed"

I stayed here long ago circa 1979-1983 back when it was a really nice motel. My dad used to take me out to Ft. Wayne to visit our family and we would stop off in Michigan City to rest (coming from Chicago). I was only 9 to 13 but it seemed like such a grand motel at that time. I still remember those velvet purple blankets on the beds! Too bad it fell into disrepair and despair over the years and shut down.

I'm used to staying in pretty bad hotels but even by my standards I give this place a rating of "Run. Just run."

First warning sign: upon check-in you have 15 minutes to check out and still get a refund. Check the room immediately. Check the sheets for yellow spots and blood.

If you get a good room, and aren't worried about your car, it's not bad for the price. Otherwise, just spend a couple dollars more for anywhere else.

I personally, do not know who took the time to review this motel from my profile. Especially, with it being so nasty a review. However, I am insulted that the management showed me much disdain for said review when ALL I have shown them was kindness and gratitude.

Aside from the aforementioned issue and the constant reminders to keep a clean room- I had no real problems. There was a period of days where I had no cable service in the room, even after I had made the staff aware. Luckily there was strong WiFi and I had my Hulu and Netflix apps on hand.

The assumption that I would take the time to bash ANY establishment online OR that I would not keep a clean room were very cutting blows. However, I'm sure that just as many negative assumptions are made about this motel as well as it's staff, so I guess I understand.

This place is truly ghetto! The first room the heater didn't work. They really didn't want to give me another room, even though occupancy was very low. At 10 pm, they really wanted me to stay in that room and SEE IF THEY COULD LOCATE MAINTENANCE! Since I was insistent, I got another room...A nice warm DUMP!

Horrible the rooms smelled extremely bad I couldn't even sit on the sofa it wreaked a smell so bad I couldn't describe it. The bathroom had roach paste all over the walls the sheets were dirty the bathroom was disgusting someone should call the health inspection on them. Not to mention the place xterm door was much better for maybe 30 dollars more the Knights is like the old projects for low income people at it worst!

I love the locarion its right of the exit the desk clerks were really nice and helpfull they had given me one of there recently renovated rooms and for a rate like that it was worth it. Nice and clean and it was fresh. I would recommend staying there.

I wouldn't let my dog stay here! It seriously looks like something out of a horror movie. The walls are grimy with nasty stains everywhere. The carpet is nasty and has burnt places. The cleaners left supplies in the room. The room stinks beyond belief. The only reason we stayed was because it was the last hotel room available, next time save yourself the money and either sleep in your car or a dumpster it would be much better.

This place doesn't even deserve one star!!! Don't be fooled by the photos of the rooms you see online. They are no where near that condition. I had a non smoking room that smelled so terrible I had to wash EVERYTHING I brought with me when I left. The walls were filthy, wallpaper falling off, bedding was disgusting, trim missing, a/c unit did not work, the TV was so fuzzy it was hardly visible. If I had seen the condition of the room BEFORE I paid I would have spent the little bit extra to stay next door at the Red Roof Inn. They allow drugs, prostitutes, and people to live on the property. Other guests were constantly out of control. I came for a week of peace and it was anything BUT peaceful. Getting towels was a nightmare. They insist people clean up after pets but there was feces everywhere. There is a fighting pitbull that LIVES with guests on the property. My 12 year old daughter was outside for 3 minutes and came back to our room hysterical because another guest started screaming at her and even flipped her off. I went to contact management and when I returned to the room the same guest that screamed at my daughter (and owns the fighting pitbull) started screaming at me as well. They threatened to have their dog KILL my dog. I was hurt on their property and they had NO CONCERN for the fact I was harmed trying to get away from yet another out of control guest. I sprained my ankle so severely I had to go to the emergency room and we ended up leaving a night early because every night we were there they had loud, unruly guests they did not control. We also witnessed them pumping and DUMPING sewage on the property when we were collecting our things to leave which is definitely a health code violation. The front desk attendant spends her time at work with her baby, and doesn't attend to her duties and was also rude and unconcerned with the fact I was hurt while on the property due to the type of people they allow to LIVE on the property. This place should be bulldozed because no amount of renovation will make this place habitable. Their cleaning crew is a joke. I have never been to such a horrible motel in my life. NEVER AGAIN and I will make sure I write as many reviews as possible and I have already contacted the company to file a formal complaint. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!
