I stayed at Kittrell Job Corps for 2 years. (Which I highly do not recommend). From the get go, I was let down. I am a student who came from Florida, and wanted to get my High School Diploma, and my culinary trade then leave. Long story short I had to take another trade before they allowed me to take culinary. My biggest problem I had was when I wanted to go to the community college, I was denied because I didn't have enough time to take the class.

I must say this. I took the Advanced Human Service Worker class, and learned a lot more than I had with any other trade. Mr. Patton is an incredible instructor, and is very underappreciated. People don't like him because he is 100% honest with everyone whether you like it or not.

Overall, I'd just like to say you have to take it seriously. If you move past the negative side and focus on your future and what you can get out of it, you'll be just fine.

Kittrell Job Corps isnt the worst place but if you already have a job don't come here, your coming here to get a job in your trade or go to school you can do that on your own. ONE LOVE!!

Attend a different center. The education is a joke, the staff is, at best, massively disrespectful, sometimes downright aggressive. Living quarters are adequate, medical staff is irresponsible and unprofessional, and administration is downright shady. Nothing here is for the students benefit except a pittance of recreational activities. Also this rating is inflated from old students coming back and reviewing. This place is NOT a good place to be at all. And it would seem to be the case for ALL Adams and Associates job corps centers. Avoid like the plague.

The Center director approached me about this review and pressured me too change it to something more positive. But instead I will tell more about what's going on.

After two months they continue to refuse to administer my final exam. My trade got a new instructor after a month and i'll give the credit where it's due. She's very rough and has some issues with a bad attitude but she's educated, professional, and can teach you regardless of how you learn. she's a great teacher if you know how to handle her and a massive improvement to the program. However the issues persist at the upper echelons of the center.

Aside from the aforementioned issue with the center director, the CTT manager continues too use her power to settle personal vendetta's. Including denying students second trades based on unrelated things, including (as far as I am aware of) a trans* student moving too the correct dorm. (Male dorm too female dorm) That same student dropping the program at the local community college because KJCC had mislead her into believing that the center covers a year of tuition. As well as being "out of uniform regularly".

Dorm staff continue to be massively unprofessional and obnoxious. There is no respect shown to students at a level beyond instructor, there is no customer service. You are berated if you dare to hold this facility too any kind of reasonable standard. The longer you're here the worse they treat you. Unless you're lucky enough to be in some kind of position of student lead power, like SGA. But even then it's a front. They show some small steps towards the desired progress and use it as a cover too push their nonsensical agenda.

Staff consistently escalates confrontations, they DO NOT handle these issues maturely or professionally. Today has been the third time I have seen staff here escalate a situation between students and staff.

Several blatant cases of transphobia against students that are not myself. Not a safe place for LGBTQ+ students.

The CTT manager attempted to gaslight me into believing my issues with the program all stem from some kind of inner malcontent. After a heated discussion with my instructor I lost my cool and knocked a hole in a wall. I agreed to pay restitution and apologized, but the CTT manager tried to use the guilt from that act to invalidate my problems with the program.

Alongside that the issue of misinformation continues to be absolutely debilitating inside of this program. I was informed that I was required to take and pass the ServSafe managerial by the lady in charge of advanced training readiness. During a meeting with the CTT manager I am informed that it is optional and that I didn't need to take it.

They said "We didn't say you needed it, just that you have to have it". So, alongside major issues with mismanagement, apparently the word "synonym" isn't known amongst staff.

Kittrell Job Corps is an amazijng place you just have to make the best of it! I am currently there I completed last year but I am currently attending Vance Granville Community College. I am so happy because I finally was able to reach goals I never thought I could and my dreams are now a reality the staff well some of them are respectful! They really care about the students and their well beings.

Attended in 93-95 changed my life. I met some amazing people. Thank god I made that choice. Job Corp can be a wonderful place. To all the young people on this journey call life you have to want to do better. Job Corp is a start u gotta believe in yourself and always remember why you made the choice. My advice to you get with someone who wants better in life get involved with church. Take one day at a time and always ask for help. There's nothing wrong with you! I love y'all. Congrats on the start of your future..

Was very good until I was getting close to graduate. Had only one write up which was a misunderstanding and all of a sudden I'm terminated for bullying and attacking someone who was in their first 2 weeks. I've been there for over a year and and I'm a bully?! No. The staff didn't make it any better either. I don't like saying it's racist or anything but me and my friend who are both white are terminated over 'bullying' someone we never talked to and my friend whose black was accused of rape but yet he was never investigated and he still goes there. I had just completed two trades when i got the news to pack my bags. First off if you're white don't go there. Yes, there were some good people there but I have never experienced racism until I became a student at Kittrell Job Corps Center.

Hi my name is Latease whitworth.I am from SHELBY NC. I attended Kittrell job corps in 2011 and graduated the same year in 2011. I would like to let everyone know that I was so lucky to get accepted into this program. The age range went from 16_24 y.o. I was 3 days away from turning 25 year's old & I got accepted into the program three days before my 25 birthday.I traveled almost 4.5 hours to get to job corps from my city. My mother dropped me off & I remember being so upset at Almost 25 having to go through a program to get my life straightened. I was upset because I had been through a lot and was facing a lot. I remember everyone thinking I was staff and not a student. Lol but all in all I can say I done everything there that I could poSSIBLE to prove to myself that what I was capable of. I stuck out there and I was very motivational to others despite my situations in life. I immediately got involved with activities such as rising icons the step team medical office support community service volunteering to help staff with administr. Duties b dorm floor leader student govt president. And so much more! I stayed busy and stay focused. I also worked in the cafeteria on center for Frank swan. I met a lot of people that I will never forget and will forever love! I did so many things and it changed my life forever. I still 5 years later remember every single thing I was taught and was disciplined. I will take it with me every where I go in life. I Still have my career Success Standards paper and I still read them just to remind me of how professionalism was taught to me through such a hidden place. I know that I changed lives while there and still on that mission. Ty ghram the center director straight out told me I was management material! I love all staff and all of Kittrell with my heart. I will be showing up to motivate others soon! I had Been to jail prison and three bad accidents prior to me entering the building and a lot of childhood and life issues. I chose to stay strong and do what I know I needed to. One thing I KNOW ILL never forget is KNOWLEDGE IS POWER & SUCCESS LAST A LIFETIMEMAKE IT HAPPEN!
