I went to Kirkwood from 2013 to 2015. The first year I had to take classes with different teachers and enjoyed it but my 2nd year I was so glad I chose Kirkwood. I had almost the same professor the entire 2nd yeae. It was great to get to know one main professor and he know each of us in the classes as well! It also gave me the opportunity to study abroad and go to Ireland! I loved Kirkwood, both the teachers and other students were all great. I would highly recommend it and will probably be going back at some point to finish another degree.

No staff members seem to know what's going on, no one on the same page, no accountability , NOT even basic service skills from anyone encountered, and because of that I wouldn't send my dumbest dog to Kirkwood .

I had a terrible experience at Kirkwood. I went for nursing and the instructors could care less about if you are learning the material to pass. They said they have such a good repuatation and a 98-99 whatever pass rate, well yeah you will have that when there are very few student left in the end. If you want a good nursing college, go to Mount Mercy University, I'm going on my second year and absolutely love it and the instructors really care about you to help you succeed.

I took a few classes through Kirkwood's accelerated program to transfer towards my Bachelor's degree at Mount Mercy. I like Kirkwood, and especially the Linn County Regional Center where they hold evening classes, and I felt like the material was alright as far as what I was learning, but now that I have started to regularly attend Mount Mercy, I can definitely tell a difference in the quality of the classes. I don't think that Kirkwood is bad, per se, but I do think you get what you pay for. Overall, though, not bad.

My daughter had an issue in class last year and was removed from a program. We had to get involved with a formal appeal. She was allowed to re-take the class this semester. One day this semester, because she could not find a needed form in her in her computer, the instructor told her she had to leave class. She stepped out, and in 15 min found the form, and was told she had to leave the class for the remainder of the year. This school is a fraud. They took her tuition for this year, and removed her for something very insignificant. It appears to me that they held a grudge against her from last year, waited until she paid for this semester and took out their revenge against her. Buyer Beware

I'm sure there are many people who have had a great experience here. But I have not. I am enrolled in one of Kirkwood's online classes, and not only has the instructor failed to respond to my emails, she has also made several mistakes in the quizzes, as well as neglecting to include the date due for one of the assignments. I am not impressed at all.

If you're the type of person that enjoys picking up a book, teaching yourself something, taking a test - all without ever speaking to the professor, even once, then Kirkwood Online courses are for you.

However, if you're struggling with a concept and want to speak with the professor, well, then you would probably have better luck getting an audience with His Holiness the Dalai Lama, in your living room. Seriously. I had to call the director of distance learning and complain about a professor (twice) before I could get her to respond to her emails. I am now in my second year of online classes, and wouldn't you know it - I cannot get a single online-professor to respond to my inquiries. For all the reasons this may be so, none of them are acceptable.

Be aware of drop dates. They don't care about the student, they just want their money. If you do drop, drop it two days before the deadlines or they will make you pay the full amount. In my two years at Kirkwood Cedar Rapids I've only come across two teachers who should actually be teaching their course. This is the last time I will ever deal with Kirkwood

I consider Kirkwood to be the Peoples College because they will accept anyone & allow them to improve themselves either with continuing education or by way of formal degree. I enjoyed my classes and had some really good teachers. The buildings are really nice and EagleTech is a great resources, along with the Gym & Library. If you have the will they will find a way to work with you to make sure that you are successful.

I was able to get my associates degree here and graduate debt free!

Kirkwood does not have a professional appeal process in place. I was registered for a class I never attended nor registered for. The tuition balance was paid in full and one class was added after the fact. I have heard of others experiencing this problem and was told by an advisor/counselor that this was an ongoing problem. I was never able to speak to anyone in charge instead I was told to write an appeal. Once an appeal decision is made there is nothing you can do. It doesn't matter if you were a perfect student and paid your classes with cash. Kirkwood just wants your money. Students beware!!
