Kaci Uthoff- Owner, Designer
I was born and raised in Eastern Iowa. Raised on an small one-acre property in a small town. I made my dreams come true to attend the College of Design at Iowa State University. My major was Landscape Architecture with a minor in Sustainability that focused in Agriculture. I spent sometime working in Kauai, Hawaii for a landscape contractor and fell in love with the culture and the people; thus the name Kalakoa, it is derived from the Hawaiian language.
Many of my projects from school and work in Hawaii include
•small town main street development
•local food production
•community gardens
•city planning
•waterways management/ restoration
•residential design
•high-end landscape residential design
•commercial landscape design.
I enjoy spending time on my Iowa Farm with my husband, gardening, and walking with my Weimaraner Chesapeake bay retriever a”Weimapeake”, Samantha. I love design in every aspect from fashion, interior design, graphic design, painting, drawing, and photography. I believe design has an impact on everything in life from feeling to function and should be considered when making a change. I take a wholistic approach in design which leads me to do a lot of different types of landscape and design, spaces of many colors.
