Visited for breakfast after many local friends and family recommended John's Bar. My omelet was actually good (and not good by local standards but good compared to some of my usual haunts in Chicago).
My Gyro salad is the best! Johns has been around a long time and i have been going at least 20+ years! Try their fish, stuffed peppers, friesEVERYTHING I've ordered has been Good!
The service has definitely improved since my last visit. I love stopping in for breakfast on the weekends occasionally. This place has a bit of nostalgia to it and I don’t want to not come because of service issues. The food is amazing!
Very good food and great selection of salads and sandwiches. Very causal restaurant and fun staff. I will definitely be going back.
French onion soup was great as always, but asked for tuna salad sandwich and received chicken salad. My iced tea glass sat empty for at least 15 minutes before I was asked if I wanted more. It cost me approx. $11.30 before tip for crock of onion soup and 1/2 a tuna sandwich. They took off the tea because she mixed up my sandwich order. It will be a looooong time before I go to this place for lunch again. $5 for 1/2 a tuna sandwich that's ridiculous.
Great food, staff, atmosphere and prices!!!
Great staff food ok but they need Gordon Ramsay to support the menu it's too old time for a shake up
Went there for breakfast. The food was awesome and my waitress was really good.
Awesome atmosphere. Great food! Great selection of beers!
I really like this place. Same faces running it for decades. The food is tasty and reasonably priced. Friendly atmosphere, old time feel at the bar. We eat there often.
I have been coming to this place to eat since I was a little girl with my grandpa. It's nice to see that it is still the same place, but with some little upgrades. Nice cozy atmosphere with good food. My favorite is their reubens, least favorite being the coleslaw way too much onion. Prices are reasonable and staff is friendly
Good food. Friendly staff. The prices were okay. I had a Reuben and it was darn good. Great corn beef!
Horrible carry out experience time and time again. We love their food and order carry out about twice a month - dropping about $40+ each time. We tip the server/bartender who cashes us out but it doesn't seem to matter. Each time we go in, we are treated rudely, and they act like we are an inconvenience by the person checking us out. They are either preoccupied with their cell phone or they barely say two words, shove a receipt at us and then rush off before we can say another word. Very disappointing because we really like the food but won't continue to patronize a restaurant where our business isn't valued.
Always amazing food and service. My husband and I eat there regularly. One of our favorite places!!!
Johns Bar is an absolute go to if you're looking for a good meal. If you sit on the bar side, it has a warm comfortable setting. The steaks are awesome, and always cooked the right way. I've never had a bad steak here. Their home fries that come with steaks are crispy and never over cooked where it tastes dry. The spicy calamari is unreal. It has a melted cheese over it, and is mixed with hot peppers (picture provided). Anytime someone asks where they should go that isn't like anywhere else in town, i always tell them to go to John's Bar. It's a great place!
