I ordered the western omelette with home fries, biscuits, side of sausage, and gravy. The gravy is the brown type you serve at dinner, not breakfast gravy. Was really upset about that. The sausage was great. The home fries look like they had been over cooked, it did not taste Very Fresh. The Omelette was fine, satisfactory. The biscuits were very disappointing when you compare them to the other Joe's Inn. These were a bit harder, not as fluffy and Flaky, and we're lukewarm. Will not come back to this one, instead will make sure to go into the city to go to the real Joe's Inn
Service was polite and quick. That was nice
The food is very good, almost overwhelming considering the large portions, but the service is not good. Every time I go here I am asked to buy beer. Every time I go here I say, "No, thank you, may I have a coffee instead?" Usually 20 to 30 minutes later, often in the middle of the meal, the coffee arrives, and not very hot. If you are not drinking beer or alcohol, the servers seem less interested in good customer service, presumably because they believe they will get less of a tip. This is, or used to be, a family restaurant. While I like the food here, I can get comfort food in many other places where I will not receive as much grief for not partaking of the servers' favourite libations. I am disappointed in this restaurant. The food, four stars. The service, less than one star.
Great portions for the money. Good value on menu every day. You should try Sunday brunch. Get there before noon, tho.
Our favorite lunch spot in the Bonair area. S soon as you walk in you smell home-made bread and you know you're in for a treat. Spaghetti a la Joe is a winner, veal parmesan is outstanding, but we have never been disappointed with anything we've ordered. The service is friendly and attentive. Great value for the money.
Joe's is really about family. The service is the best. The food portions are plentiful (well more than enough) and it's so freaking delicious, you can't help but go back for more. Jonathon Austin, juggler extraordinare, is there every Wednesday from 6-8p and is nothing short of memorable
+JMJLove! Love! Love! the baked spaghetti. I had never had this before vising this restaurant with friends. After the first time, this is what I usually ordered when I ate out with my friends. The portion is HUGE! And, everything about the dish is delicious: cheese topping, the meat sauce, the spaghetti. I don't recall the salad or the bread just the baked spaghetti. Service was always good. Waitstaff very friendly. It has a very homey atmosphere! Have actually dined at both locations: Bon Air and the Fan. Love it!
We understand completely that they were busy. But, we waited for over 45 minutes AFTER our order was taken and still only had water and coffee. I understand the server might have been overwhelmed but she did not once check in with us and let us know that maybe they were sorry they were behind but they were working on it Nothing! We ended up leaving with no food and going to Chick-fil-A drive through.
This place sucks! The food is good if they get your order right but they usually don't. The service is the worst problem with the restaurant. They seem to put hiring family over experienced workers which is fine if they know how to do anything work related which isn't the case here. Good luck
Don't knock it 'til you try it. Quaint little place, nice for a good sit down dinner with friends or family. Some of the dinner plates have HUGE portions. Their Chicken Philly & Fries taste awesome. Everything was pretty decently priced. Well done. (:
Food was delicious and prices reasonable. Service was great. Thanks for a nice evening and meal.
Been going for years and its always been great. The 'Spaghetti a la Joe' is awesome. I usually eat half and save the rest for lunch the next day.
Best restaurant in bon air. Happy hour is 4 to 7, so you can actually make it when you get off work.
Service is great and food is very good.
Joe's Inn is a classic in Richmond. While I do still kind of prefer the Joe's Inn in the fan to this one, this is still a top notch restaurant with very reasonable prices.
My only complaint with this location is that while it seems like they really tried to put a lot of thought into their interior lay-out, something about it just doesn't feel right. They have a raised section of seating and then a lower tier section and I feel like they generally seat in the lower tier on slower days and me personally I always feel a little claustrophobic in the lower tier of seating.
I would recommend to management that when you are only seating in a part of your restaurant make sure you are seating in your "premium" seats and in my mind at least I think those are the raised central seats.
Just visited this location and waited a full hour for our food, after a 20 min wait to be seated, only to be told by our server they were still preparing our meal and it would "be out soon". We ordered 2 salads and 2 subs. There was no reason for the wait. Meanwhile the party of 9 seated after us got their appetizers and meals served within minutes of being seated. Our server said the Sunday kitchen staff was just slower but clearly preference was given to the bigger check. I'm a very patient person, but I will never eat at this location again. No offense to the wait staff, they were very pleasant. They need to get their kitchen staff sorted out.
